Player Cristian Romero

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think you’re seeing all these situations through very white tinted glasses

With all due respect that's BS (and patronising)........

You seem to be insistent on conflating apples and oranges here. It's like you want me to have been arguing that Romero was not lucky to go un-punished...... But that's not been the case. Romero got lucky. I've acknowledged the rulebook; I just don't agree with how much of a 'sin' the rule-book deems it to be.

I don't like how the handball rule is set up. Similarly, there are aspects of off-side I think are stupid; that doesn't mean that I'm gonna tear the ref to shreds for enforcing that current iteration of the rules or consider us "cheated" if they are implemented.

The chavs have a right to feel butt-hurt over that as far as it goes as an isolated incident.

As for "all these situation"...? What else are you packaging up on me here?

What I just said about shirt pulling/yellows is more of a practical assertion than it is a matter of opinion..... Chiellini damn near throttled Saka with his shirt when dragging him to the ground in the Euros...... Is that somehow less dangerous or less "violent"? Bearing in mind the hair situ was in a standing position as opposed to a player on the move; that fact is what Romero did is less dangerous.

We were watching Chelsea vs Spurs so not sure what game YOU were watching.
But the posters you quoted were spot on.
You can't just dismiss TheSpurEst comments like that, he has given several incidents there that he's totally right about - they happened and they won't go away just because he pulled someone's hair.
James' cross that Havertz made a balls up of wasn't cut out by Romero and he was awol for other incidents including both goals - although so was Dier, who supposedly marshall's the back line.
The other comments about being caught in possession and the poor standard of his passing out of defence were also true. By his standards.
How a central defender, up for a corner, gets that much space to slash at the cross is astonishing enough, but the way the whole back line was pulled over to the right for their second was shambolic.
We took our chances but our ball retention, passing and defending was a nightmare to watch

It was a red card. He grabs his hair and then yanks him to the ground. Every referee I’ve seen analyse it has said it’s a red card for violent conduct. Red cards for violent conduct equate to three match bans.

It’s really that simple in my eyes. I’m glad we got away with it & it’s hilarious it happened to fuck over Chelsea. But this forum would be up in arms about corruption & how their players are scum if the situation was reversed.

It wasn’t worse than the Nunez headbutt and yes, there are many worse forms of violent conduct. As for the Cucurella incident .. come the fuck on. We’re better than pretending it was deliberate. It was two players colliding.
His hair is so long that it's damn near the collar of his jersey.
Players look to pull the jersey and near the collar area all the time.
If Cucurella's hair is impeding Romero from getting a hand on his jersey, then is it really violent conduct?
Or could football players just grow their hair out a meter long to make the back of their jersey extremely difficult to pull?

I have discovered that actually pointing out the obvious, stating facts and being dispassionate about events often causes alarm and despondency amongst some posters.

Some times it even leads to witch hunting for heresy.
Just a word to the wise.
😀

Are you seriously trying to pass that off as mitigation?

It doesn't look completely intentional to be construed as 'violent conduct'

If you watch the replay, Romero isn't even looking at Cucurella. He's just going for the back of his jersey like a lot of defenders do when they defend corners.

But take a look at Cucurella's hair, it's damn near his back collar area or even below it.

It looked to me that Romero just acted on instinct, going for the back collar, rather than it being a malicious act.

Watch the replay - he doesn't look at Cucurella once, nor have an idea of what he's grabbing until it's said and done. You can actually see Cucurella pulling on Romero's jersey as well. There was pulling from both sides.

Wow, you even doubled down and went full on!

Romero knew exactly what he was doing. It was dumb with the ref right there, but a thing of beauty - because he go away with it.

And because we scored immediately afterwards

But seriously, you're fooling no-one with that attempt at a defence.

Spirited effort. 1/10

Watch the sequence - it's completely instinctual and not premeditated. He's not looking at him.

Foul? Yes

Intentional violent conduct? No

Actually I can just dismiss his comments Mick Cooper Mick Cooper

By your own words, nobody tells me how or what to post! Your words, remember?

I’ll stick with my own opinion but thanks for trying to cause an argument, again. It’s not going to wash with me though.

I’m not interested so have a nice day.

Romero is a top class player but opponents and fans will be trying to goad him all the time and officials will be watching every move, let’s hope he can keep his cool

Well that was a mature reaction.
You don't do yourself any favours when you behave in this bratty manner. He was right, you weren't. Deal with it
