Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You strike me as the sort of fan that would say exactly this at the end of a season where we cleaned up and won the lot though.

Sure some of the players aren't shiny expensive fashion items. But we have a coach who gets 110% from players. That's after 2 coaches who probably got 50% at best.

Almost every aspect of our game is better now than its been since prime Poch years and we've done it without spending ludicrous money on gobshite like TND.

When Bissouma eventually becomes a starter and we fully see the effects of having 4 (or more) quality forwards to rotate, you'll see the upside of it all.
I hope so. I really do.

This thread seems to have given up on bringing in that last major statement signing of the window.

Pretty unheard of, but probably a good thing
this thread or this TW?

Personally speaking, I get the impression those that matter are pleased with the business done to date. I think FP has shown he wont panic and buy the wrong player, so if ones comes up near the end of the window, that suits i'm confident we will pull the trigger, if not we will keep our powder dry.

Refreshing not to be scrambling around in the dark looking for the light switch...

So, Trix knows fuck all and is wording a rambling essay without revealing fuck all. Utter fraud. How do they keep getting away with it? I honestly don’t think they have got anything correct
lol, putting my conspiracy hat on here for a second, I’m now about 99% certain that the whole A&C dramatic meltdown and deletion of ITK thread bit was because he knew his ITKs were chasing red herrings left and right. I mean let’s be perfectly honest here not one ITK has gotten anything close to right; they are in fact inferior to Ali Gold and other reporters imo. When Paul bloody O’Keefe is more reliable than you it’s time to give up the ghost probably permanently.

A&C is many things but stupid is not one, he was trying to protect his ITKs from further embarrassment with this (and he just loves a meltdown, the theatrical control-obsessed ponce).

Unfortunately the lemmings at SC would believe “we tried for Messi and agreed terms but Conte didn’t think he was a fit” and say things like “top info mate”. Bunch of lemmings drilled into submission over there. Anyone with critical thinking knows the ITK is bullshit.

I'm not directly disagreeing with you.
This forum in general has such a deep seeded hatred for Chelsea that many believed they would end up in league 2 as soon as Abramovich went. Any semblance of common sense puts that theory to bed.
I can't see the new ownership continuing to spend their own money season after season this was put aside as cost of purchase. So either they need to get it right, buy smarter or there will be a decline down the league... They won't be able to spend their way out of trouble in the same way.

I think a lot will depend on success. If they spend a fuck ton of money and finish 6th, that's gonna sting.

Over It Whatever GIF by Satisfied Customer

Well everyone else loves laughing at them. If you don’t like it, then don’t bloody read it. Simple.

One of the more obscure footballers linked with a transfer to Spurs is a certain Ruslan Malinovskyi.

The Atalanta midfielder is reportedly on Tottenham’s radar ahead of what would be a £20 million move, with the player’s wife Roksana already following Conte on Instagram.

However, Sky Sports man Lyall Thomas has revealed that the Lilywhites are reluctant to sign the player in a permanent deal, having turned 29 in May, but the Serie A outfit aren’t willing to loan him.

He told Sky Sports: “Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi is a player Spurs have looked into signing on loan but the Italian club are only willing to sell him permanently due to there being a year left on his contract.

“This does not appeal to Spurs, who are reluctant to commit transfer fees and long-term contracts to players who are over or approaching 30.”

Unfortunately for Tottenham, this one could definitely collapse.

It was reported earlier this week that the Ukrainian powerhouse was interested in a transfer to North London.

But it makes complete sense for Atalanta to refuse a loan arrangement if his contract expires next summer because, well, how do they benefit?

Unless Conte and Paratici break their stance, which seems unlikely because he doesn’t fit their profile of transfer target either, it looks like this one won’t be happening.
or it's just good negotiating?

The player reportedly wants the move, he only has one year left so can go on a free next year. Atlanta are backed into a corner... If we say we want a loan with an option, Atlanta will have to reduce the purchase price to change our mind. Spurs are quite likely ok with a reduced transfer fee, perhaps in the region of £18m (very cheap), he's only on £23k p/w so bumping him up to £35k p/w on a three year contract means we won't be stuck if he's not amazing.

For a player who will be on rotation, £18m and £35kp/w is decent in the current market.

It would be a shrewd purchase. Only question is over our quota

The players we are being linked with right now is so depressing.
We went into this window with such high hopes. Pau Torres, Bastoni, Bremer in defence. We’ve ended up with Lenglet, and we are still playing Davies and Sanchez.
Wing backs were a huge area that need upgrading. Perisic: great (for the short terms). But we are still stuck with Doherty, Royal, Sessingon (I really hope he comes good, on day) and meanwhile our other signing in this position is incapable of even making the bench.
We are crying out for ball playing creative central midfielder. Eriksen, Tielemens, Ruben Neves, James Ward Prowse, Paqueta were mentioned. We are now being linked with a 29 year old Atlanta player.
This was not the transfer window we were expecting. The players we have been slagging off for years are still here.
So much for the £150 warchest.
Yves and Richy (though not at that price (if only it were Jesus for cheaper)) I support as new additions. Persic too. The rest are pretty miserable.
I hope I’m proved wrong, but I suspect this will come back to bite us. It did after the Bale return window, in which everyone slagged me off for not thinking it was a brilliant window.
I get where you're coming from but it makes for pretty depressing reading. It's so easy to flip it the other way though.

Perisic = one of the best players in his position in the world, and brings a winning mentality, calmness and influence to the changing room that we've not had in years.

Lenglet = Was one of the best players in his position until a recent blip, you don't become a clogger overnight

Richy = a young, and proven Prem player who has shown a winning mentality and brings a level of shithousery we've missed. Most of the winning team possess this, we haven't for many years

Biss = Dragged his team through last season, is young and prem proven, one of the best performing players in the prem last season

Destiny = Huge prospect, already making the headlines. Looks super strong and well developed, exciting for next season

Another = I think we will sign another.

These and January with both Kulu and Bent both working out (rare), that's no small change to the squad over the last year. oh.. Plus Conte, the changes to the scouting Dept. and the set play coach.

if they bought the club and started selling off assets they would become toxic pretty quickly. I think it's clever what they are doing. We're all left thinking "fuck, nothing has changed" so their brand and value remains high.

Others who know more than me, believe this group see it as a money making exercise, if so they will hope to ride the wave for 3-5 years whilst they service the debt and flip for a tidy profit. Unlike most businesses, football is quite easy to project future revenues...

Conte ball doesn't utilise creative midfielders.

Also, Conte won the league with a defence that included Victor Moses, Marcus Alonso and Gary Cahill. Relax.

Yes, we'd all have loved Bastoni, and I think the overall consensus on Torres and Bremer was cautious rather than must haves. And if we are being priced out, then it's sensible to step back. Trust and actual process.

Seriously?

After we signed a CM that was arguably best in the position in the league outside of TOP6, on bar with Phillips and Rice...
After we signed versatile forward player that was best player of Everton, who we were competing quite closely and who offers cover for all 3 positions in front 3.
After we signed Italian champion and world class fullback that was also brilliant in past season, and despite his age had higher top speed than any of our players? Plus we actually future-proofed position with exciting prospect who we loaned out.
After we signed a young HG option for RWB, while host of other EPL clubs were after him?
After we upgraded our backup GK position without paying anything?
After we took on loan once very highly regarded CB whose ability on the ball is visible even now and who could easily improve and benefit from change of system and playing in back 3 ?
After we have shifted out (though temporarily) Ndombele, Lo Celso, Rodon who were all surplus to requirements. After we made profit on Bergwijn who never proved himself with us. After we look to be selling quite limited academy product that is Tanganga for 20 mil pounds?!?
After NONE of the wanted players have left or wanted to leave ?!?

This is not window we were expecting?
Speak for yourself.

Are you actually disspointed in the window, or are you just acting like a small child whose mother brought home new, awesome and shiny toy but just does not give it to you before christmas eve ?!?!
Cause that is the situation now. Bissouma, Richalidson, Spence, Lenglet are all yet to start even a single EPL game. Yet you are slagging off this window like it would have been no use.

Look at the table for once - we are unbeaten, on 2 wins and 1 draw from very hard game. Most of the new recruits have had minimal impact up to now, AND window is open for 8 more days.

Sure, Winks is still not moved on and same goes for Reggie. But I expect these two issues to be resolved as well before window closes. Sure, we could make two more signings - more progressive passing CM/AM and CB. Sure - there are some players who might not be most exiting and could be upgraded upon - Doherty, Moura, Royal, Sanchez.
But squad is in SO much better shape then it was in the end of last season. Not to mention in start of january. Since then we have brought in EIGHT new faces.

Everything cannot be done within one window.
But this has been MASSIVE step towards right direction.

18m is not cheap for a player they’ve openly stated is for sale… is towards 30 years of age, plays for a mid table Italian team and as we approach the last week of the window

Not relevant to the selling club but also takes another important foreign slot

If we paid anything over 10m I’d be disappointed

Put it this way …. If another PL club isn’t interested no European team is giving them more than 10m quid

Marc Guehi being linked.

seems lazy. 4 years left on the deal, obv we like him but he'd be an insane cost.
£50m to £60m maybe? Trouble is why would they sell, especially at this stage of the window when its tough to reinvest. Unless a prem player is hitting the last 2 years of his contract its now extremely difficult getting anyone half decent unless you go £20m over the odds like Chelsea did with Cucurella and seemingly with Gordon. Bit of a bummer when we need homegrown players.
