Playing as a WB every three days at that level is going to cause fatigue.

What if Sess gets injured and we have to play Perisic twice weekly?

We're not playing with an AMF so then our WBs are essential.

What's needed are one or two versatile players IE Ben Davies that can shuffle about into other positions and be able to do an adequate job.

As I said before, another option if we get a LWB injury is in some games to play 433, with Emerson and Davies as FullBacks.

Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, It's just that I saw Perisic limping off against Wolves, and Sess is somewhat injury prone.

Ben Davies is probably currently 4th choice as a LWB, you're worrying about nothing really and your premise is based purely on hypotheticals, what if Lenglet went down with an injury and we didn't have Sessegnon and Peresic is fatigued, what then?

I think we could do this all day, my point is we shouldn't even be relying on Davies being a wing back under Conte, I pray it doesn't come to that regardless because if it does you might as well keep Reguilon.

I would say Gordon is best off waiting for his contract to run down to force his price down, but it runs until 2025 and he "only" earns £2,500 a week,
He's probably desperate to get out. And, if he doesn't, you gotta think he would have cause to go to Everton management and say "2 of the biggest teams in the league wanted me, I want a payrise and a new deal"
3 years of missing out on 100k a week

Can’t argue with that logic

They also think Hercules has insider knowledge
I am so sick of that nobber. He hasn’t come up with any original accurate info at any occasion this summer and all of his ITK consists of cryptic messages like “there’s truth to this, but too early to tell. Might happen. Might not. Let’s just wait and see.”

How people cling onto what he says instead of calling him out for being a basement-dwelling, attention seeking bullshit artist is beyond me (I’m joking. I know why. They’ll get banned immediately by the dictators that run that shit show).

Then we'd need to change the formation. 433 as I said.

Emerson.... Romero....... Dier........Davies.

Stop visiting their website and talking about them then.

OK fair question. Best way to explain is by rival examples. Chelsea have James and Chilwell. Liverpool have Arnold and Robertson. City have Walker and Cucurella and Cancelo. All these players are better than Sess, Reggie, Doherty and Royal. Spence we can't judge because he is not being played. The only wingback we have who is comparable to our direct rivals is Persic - who is not always fit.

You are not saying what a wing-back should be as opposed to comparing without specifics.

Walker, super athlete though he is creates little, Alexander Arnold is prone defensively. Chilwell was injured for much of last season as was James. Both are good but you have not outlined the qualities that you would expect to see.

I think this becomes daft because we don't have the players you have mentioned and personally I don't think they would all be better. Nothing quite like the perception to thwart a reality.

We have 5 wing-backs and for now that's it. Let's see if Conte can get more out of them than many of the fans believe possible.

To note I don't think they are perfect but fimd better unless you are proposing a change of formation?

The players we are being linked with right now is so depressing.
We went into this window with such high hopes. Pau Torres, Bastoni, Bremer in defence. We’ve ended up with Lenglet, and we are still playing Davies and Sanchez.
Wing backs were a huge area that need upgrading. Perisic: great (for the short terms). But we are still stuck with Doherty, Royal, Sessingon (I really hope he comes good, on day) and meanwhile our other signing in this position is incapable of even making the bench.
We are crying out for ball playing creative central midfielder. Eriksen, Tielemens, Ruben Neves, James Ward Prowse, Paqueta were mentioned. We are now being linked with a 29 year old Atlanta player.
This was not the transfer window we were expecting. The players we have been slagging off for years are still here.
So much for the £150 warchest.
Yves and Richy (though not at that price (if only it were Jesus for cheaper)) I support as new additions. Persic too. The rest are pretty miserable.
I hope I’m proved wrong, but I suspect this will come back to bite us. It did after the Bale return window, in which everyone slagged me off for not thinking it was a brilliant window.

What are you disagreeing with me about? It's a fact they were loss making despite winning the CL, just because their owners have the cash doesn't change that fact.

I'm not directly disagreeing with you.
This forum in general has such a deep seeded hatred for Chelsea that many believed they would end up in league 2 as soon as Abramovich went. Any semblance of common sense puts that theory to bed.

One week to go and a lot going on. Lots of players being linked and a few more that have not made the media. I'd ignore all the "spurs are interested" headlines right now no matter where they are from, as we have put the feelers out for a lot of players. Especially home grown ones, agents, selling clubs, even people at the club are jumping on them and blowing them out of proportion. If FP likes a player, we've enquired, if AC likes a player we've enquired, if they are being put forward by their agent or one of our scouts and we think they are decent we've enquired, etc etc etc. Zaha, enquiry..... Dan James, enquiry..... Ziyech, enquiry.... Madison, enquiry..... I think you get the point, just because we've asked the question re their availability it certainly doesn't mean we are looking to sign them, because AC doesn't actually want any of them. It costs nothing to ask the question, and knowing the situation allows things to change quickly to best fit the jigsaw.

I have a couple of names we are looking at but even then I'm not convinced they'll go anywhere because FP has a lot of names on his list right now and besides the fact we know one of them needs to be Association trained it'll be a case of how the two we want in best fuse together, both in fit (one of the two HG at least) and also cost.

One thing I'm certain of that I can add is that we are not only looking in this country for the HG option, and have definitely had more than just enquiry contact with one player from overseas and this player has not hit the media yet.

As a closing point it's worth remembering we are not looking to sign the players you lot have watched, we will be signing the players that AC/FP have watched and evaluated. They may well be the same person but very different players.

Now try not to get this shut down ffs.”

Revisionism.

Also your original (and continued) stance is that they were a well run business under RA which is utter BS.

You strike me as the sort of fan that would say exactly this at the end of a season where we cleaned up and won the lot though.

Sure some of the players aren't shiny expensive fashion items. But we have a coach who gets 110% from players. That's after 2 coaches who probably got 50% at best.

Almost every aspect of our game is better now than its been since prime Poch years and we've done it without spending ludicrous money on gobshite like TND.

When Bissouma eventually becomes a starter and we fully see the effects of having 4 (or more) quality forwards to rotate, you'll see the upside of it all.
