Said I feel we lack something. We do.

The bigger issue is if it's courage on Conte'spart because that is less players and more about mindset.

I always felt one of Sir Alex Ferguson's many strengths was his lack of respect for any of his players if they weren't performing., from game to game. Simply did not seem to care.

Conte, good as he is would benefit from similar.

Skipp and Romero coming into the starting XI will be a big help, I feel.

It just feels like we haven't actually gotten around to replacing Eriksen (and even he was absent for that last year or so). For all the 'Conte's system doesn't use a CAM' arguments - I get it, but there's no way we can excel with a midfield so devoid of ideas.

Who, out of our main competition, doesn't have a lock-picker we'd gladly take into our squad?
Furthermore, we didn’t sign the wing backs to suit the system that Conte so heavily relies on. We signed on who hasn’t joined us yet; one who can’t make the bench let alone the squad; and one who granted gives us something but for how long (and for how many games a season?). So to compensate that we need a creative midfielder. But guess what, we haven’t signed one. It’s total joke. And so similar to the window in which Bale returned. I warned then that that was a bad window to which everyone said “efff of” and “stop being negative” while they creamed themselves.

I’m seeing this excuse banded around a lot:
This season is about building depth and removing the deadweight. Next season and the season after is when we improve the first team.
Sorry, but that’s doesn’t work. Firstly, all the players we want shot of are on loan and will likely come back next season.
Secondly and more importantly. A season or two from now, our key talents will be one or two years older, which can make a huge amount of difference when you are the ages that, Kane, Son, Lloris had Perisic are currently at. So chances are you then have to replace some of them.
The whole thing is a fallacy.
The whole thing still feels stale.
And that starts at the top.

This window started with promise but is turning out to be mediocre.

With £150m being made available, CL football and Conte present to attract players, this was a unique chance to have an elite window.

In reality in terms of net spend (unless you count Romero which I count as last year's signing) we've had lower net spend than:
Man United, Chelsea, Woolwich, West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Wolves.

It's actually quite incredible if our main target to replace Gil is Dan James but it does appear to be the case.

Gil wasn't in the squad so he's obviously ready to be sent packing but we are just waiting to see if we can get someone in. I would love to think we have a quality option up the sleeve but something would have broken by now if that's the case.

I assume we have known all summer (or at least for a month) that Gil was not in Conte's plans for the season so why are we scrabbling now for shite cover options?

We've generally done good business but this seems like a lack of foresight. We have one good rotation option and we play with 3 forwards, that's just not enough.

Today was the first goal they conceded in 10 hours of football.
dont care, they are not good enough on the ball, nowhere near good enough, all 3 are well below the standard required. youd be licking your lips if your a shit house team coming to counter us and they are the 3 players seeing plenty of the ball and the ones starting off the attacks with passing forward.

they've got two cdms and wingbacks coming in to shore up so the defending part is not exactly hard in that system, they are required to be competent passers of the ball and they are far from.

Now this is an insightful post.

Unless one of the options is to transform to a 352.

Meaning it's more than enough.

If this isn't working:

Son - Kane - Kulusevski
Hojbjerg - Bentancur
Then we can switch it up to:

Richarlison - Kane - Kulusevski
Hojbjerg - Bentancur
Or we could switch it up to:

Richarlison - Kane
Hojbjerg - Bissouma - Bentancur
Or we could switch it up to:

Richarlison - Kane
Son - Hojbjerg - Bentancur - Kulusevski

We have plenty of options to choose from and loads of potential ways to play if things don't go well. We just need our manager to make the changes quicker if it's not clear that option 1 isn't working.
