Tottenham Hotspur want Riccardo Pecini with Fabio Paratici now keen to bring his fellow Italian in after his departure from Spezia.
Tottenham have revamped their recruitment department over the course of 2021.
Steve Hitchen and Brian Carey left the club earlier in the year and Paratici has been able to retool his scouting team.
Gretar Steinsson has come in after leaving Everton whilst
former Watford scout Leonardo Gabbanini arrived in August.
Paratici may have one more move up his sleeve though with another Italian talent spotter wanted at Tottenham.
The new name being linked with Tottenham is Riccardo Pecini.
Pecini left his post as Spezia’s director of football just a matter of days ago.
The 44-year-old will seemingly be replaced by Eduardo Macia, and Pecini may be on his way to England.
Spezia1906,
Tuttomercatoweb and
Firenze Viola all cover claims from
Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, which state that Tottenham want Pecini.
It’s suggested that Paratici wants Pecini at Spurs and the former Spezia man is now considering the move.
Pecini and Paratici worked together at Sampdoria between 2009 and 2010, before Paratici moved on to Juventus.
A reunion may make some sense, but it’s unclear what Pecini’s specific job title would be at Tottenham.
If Pecini’s name feels a little familiar to Tottenham fans, that’s because he has already been with Spurs once.
Pecini arrived as a Tottenham scout back in 2005 and left in 2008, working under Damien Comolli in North London.
Pecini told The Athletic earlier this year that he picked out Luka Modric as a potential Tottenham signing and pushed Comolli to sign him.
In that interview, Pecini added that Paratici is a ‘monster’ and highlighted that is great friends with the Tottenham chief.
That certainly adds some level of credence to these rumours of Pecini rejoining Spurs, especially as he is now free from his Spezia deal.
