but dohertys last run for us was a massive success before his injury. its so fucking strange how conte has stuck with royal now when hes offered us fuck all in attack. his defending is ok but not good enough to warrant starting over doherty who we know is a problem for the opposition in the final third.
Conte made it pretty clear that he didn't want Spence. It'll be interesting to see what happens with him.
100% with you on this. I love the energy that Emerson brings, but man he's terrible going forward. Doc has been awful for most of his time here, but before the injury he was really really good.
Agreed. There must be something going on behind the scenes or perhaps Matt just never got over his injury. It really is bizarre though as he was on a really good streak there last season and I personally think he’s better than Royal. At least he can cross the ball!!
He'll start both games for Ireland if fit enough. Int. break coming at a good time for Doherty, Spence, Skipp and Gil to get some match time before a busy stretch of games for us. You'd expect Doherty and Skipp at least will get some games in October.
Still don't know why we haven't been using the U21 games to get people minutes as you can have an overage player in the squad also.
Check out the Leeds u21 side that beat Southampton 21's 6-2 a few weeks back.. it looks grossly unfair.. Ayling, Cooper, Firpo, Summerville, Gnoto and Bamford all started the game against a team full of guys who've never played senior football.
