ENIC In or ENIC Out

I’d love to be proven wrong but it has to be said. We don’t have a mentality at the club to actually win things.

We consistently come up small and crumble almost any time we are given an opportunity to do so.

Seems Levy recognizes it. We’ve tried to bring in winners at manager but it’s clearly not been enough to instill what is needed. At this point it seems the only a ridiculous City style cash outlay could overcome the current culture issues. And ENIC are not going to to do that so what hope is their project at this point.

Sorry to be so down but it’s rather depressing to keep watching the same results repeat over and over through the years.
We been saying this for years. Going nowhere with this lot. They have no intention of putting in what it takes.

Parataci also at fault. He's not been given a ton of money but what he has, he hasn't used efficiently.

His successful transfers to date are Romero, Kulu and Benta. Every other transfer has been average at best.

I'm not really enic out because I understand that they're business people first and foremost, but why anyone would spend this much time defending an ownership that nearly moved us to fucking east london and almost destroyed European football by joining the ESL is beyond me.
We have an odd fan base. Never known so many fans so defensive of an owner/chairman to the extent of ours. Where you actually spend lots of your own time defending them to strangers & online. & even to the extent where you take criticism of them personally & you start getting abusive to the critics.
Especially one that would have us playing in east London if they had their way!

Now compare everything else.
Trophies is what it is about.

Any discussion about Poch’s team will always be summarised as a great team, shame they didn’t win anything.

The best stadium in the world at some point is going to be eclipsed by a newer and shiner one. The half time service for beer is still slow.

The academy still hasn’t produced enough.

Somethings are better but its all about winning. We don’t do enough of it currently.

I don’t turn up cos I like to take part, I turn up cos enjoy seeing my team win.

As much as I'm a broken record in my dislike / contempt of ENIC, you're an equivalent broken record in your support / defence of them

You do realise this, don't you? :memeokay:
I don’t support ENIC.
I went through my own anti-Danny Boy total meltdown in Summer 2012 when the Joao Moutinho deal fell through. I expect , based on your patchy postings, that’s before you started following Spurs.

At this point, I’ve reached a grudging acceptance of what they will and won’t do which has brought me peace. I thank them for taking us out of the West Ham/ Everton/ Villa tier of absolute also-rans. I thank them for the stadium which should ensure revenue streams that keep us above those teams. I thank them for getting us back on a par with a Woolwich team that we were every bit equal to before the Prem era. I know that we’re in far better shape than we were under the previous ownership.

Looking at their model, I have zero expectations that they’ll ever invest a significant amount of their own money into the club that will bring sustained success. And I find that perfectly understandable.
The business I work for doesn’t subsidize its customers. Again, understanding brings me acceptance and acceptance brings me peace.
All I can ask for is that whatever they do invest is invested wisely and that they don’t use the club as a cash cow to drain and leave it in a worse shape when their stewardship is over.

Edited to add: and to keep us competitive enough to keep making it to the late stages of the cup competitions we’re in. Get us to a final or two and we have a 50:50 shot at a trophy.

So it wouldn't matter to you if we were sitting in mid table and sometimes flirting with relegation in that case with a load of shit players, a club going nowhere, a board who were happy for the club to be also rans and had no ambition to be a big player or to attract big names, all for the same amount of trophies we have with ENIC now?

Because this is exactly where we were under Sugar so if you're comparing regimes you're well within your rights to compare the trophy count but to ignore everything else and the strides we've taken as a club is pretty disingenuous.

Of course now the reason why we have a manager like Conte is to push onto the next step and win trophies, this is the club showing ambition and actually trying to do something about this pitiful record, you wouldn't be seeing this under Sugar.

I'll never understand why this thread keeps getting bumped after a loss, if the problem that people have with ENIC is that we don't enough trophies under their tenure (which is true) then why the fuck are people moaning in October lol.

Ah yes the great Tottenham pre ENIC who were of course riding a wave of success and progression under Alan Sugar...
It’s not a binary choice between Sugar and ENIC.

I’m not especially ENIC out as it is what it is; they own the club. Fuck all we can do about it.

But for the life of me I cannot fathom why people defend them so much.

Their ‘vision’ is clearly an entertainment dildoplex with an NFL franchise to boot.

Now, that is two excellent points.
Cheers, your position is probably the closest to where I stand on the ownership. I understand that we arent entitled to have some billionaire pump stupid money into the club. But at the same time its hard not to be annoyed with some of the things they've done.

They've done good things as you mentioned earlier, but if they had gotten their way I'd probably stop watching football tbh.

Can you imagine if we actually moved to stratford? Would the NLD die or would they rename it the northeast london derby or some shit?

It was when the original poster insisted that 'ENIC has cursed our club' which is a load of utter bollocks.

Because it's not as if the club were on a high before they came in.

RE Defending: With ENIC I'm at peace with the way they run the club and as I lived through the Sugar regime and despite Scholar making us successful Christ he nearly ran our club into the ground...ENIC for me are moving us in the right direction, they are far from perfect though believe me but I hold a bias because I've seen how shit we were.

Yet you still feel the need to respond to posts made.

I don’t deny improvements have been made but its been a protracted and mistake ridden journey.

You might have unlimited patience that dear leader is going to come good but after 21 years I think we are entitled to question things.

Not just this summer, last summer when we had the worlds most embarrassing manager search, they were spending over 100 million on first team players to improve their starting xi. And they spend another 100 million this summer.

Its more than just the money, they've created a proper footballing structure around Arteta and given him a base to succeed.
Last 2 years

Gross spend
Woolwich - £347m
Spurs - £339m

Net spend
Woolwich - £280m
Spurs - £261m

Fuck all in it

As much as people are entitled to whinge then I'm surely entitled to question their motives right?

There's been a lot of mistakes along the way yet here we are, some of us can let go of the past and move on, it seems some can't or ever won't...everyone is different I guess.

So what's the alternative, do you want them gone? Because it seems like the only way we push on here is to say hello to Mohammad el Sheikh along with their Sportwashing project, fair play if you're down for that...

They might be in a title race this year, Conte laughed at that suggestion after the man utd game. As you said, we've spent about the same the past 2 years.

As I said in the previous post, its not just the amount of money they've spent but how they've backed him and put full trust in him to do whatever he wants to the squad.

Man utd have spent stupid money and are just getting back on their feet now.
