Football, from a financial point of view, makes next to zero sense. You don’t really make any money. It’s a question of how much you lose and how much you win whilst doing it. That’s why it attracts gangsters and cheats and billionaires and clowns. You pay to be part of the fun.
It’s also why the top clubs are so desperate to push the ESL - as it will offer the stability and some possibility of returning to profit (although destroy domestic football in the process).
ENIC will not make significant profit from day to day business at Spurs. What they do will go back into the club. Unfortunately, they have no interest in *losing* money. So everything is all very sensible and accounted for.
It would be ideal if they sold up now, took the enormous dividends from the value of the sale, and someone took over that was a little more keen to get involved in the art of losing money in style.
