First, Footy Insider is a terrible source. Now if Spence is sold it will go down as one of the worst signings in club history... how incompetent do we have to be to sign a guy, rarely play him, and then sell after 5 months?

If Spence is sold then I'm confident Conte is signing a new deal and this is Levy's way of saying "I was wrong to get involved in that deal" and I won't do that again.

I mean suppose it's a loan-plus-option where the option is something close to what we paid and includes a sell-on percentage?
That would essentially be saying "Brentford will manage the value of this asset for us better than we will" which is rather plausible at this point.
Either Conte who doesn't rate Spence stays, or a 50/50ish chance we switch to back 4 making Spence one of three RWB's (adding Porro) who don't really fit in a 4.
