If we targeted Nuno due to a Paratici vision for 5 at the back and then Levy overruled I'd be surprised .. despite my dislike of him I don't think he's an idiot, and hiring a Director of Football and immediately overruling his vision would be idiotic.

I'm not sure Paratici fits the bill of a DoF who sets a very clear footballing vision, I just don't really see that.

I think it was an agreement between Paratici and Levy.

Remember, Paratici actually considered Nuno for Juve back in the day. Madness right?

Levy knew by hiring another negative/defensive manager he'd need a compromise after his BS announcement. So they agreed Nuno would play a more attacking formation (4 at the back).

Nuno never stood a chance.

Because fans counted the money spent when we originally signed him. We essentially bought him but just delayed a payment.

I counted it back then in the spending and won't be counting it twice, or including it in the 'backing' of Conte.

Some did; some refused to (suggesting otherwise would just be denial).... Some refused to ackowledge it and commonly deride these things as Levy fuckery and not proper.

Personally I think anyone that criticises 'loan with option' is an idiot.

......But bickering about Romero's fee is tedious and entirely predictable.

There's a cult of negativity in this world that drives me up the wall. Wherever you go, whatever you do, the majority of people just can't handle thinking about positive stuff (good news, successes, future proofing) and just call you a Levy bot if you do.

You better not say the obvious positive thing otherwise it'll bring the mood up and everyone will judge you.

Our big problem is the £235m (not counting Royal £22m) we spent on players we can't get rid of or are unwilling to move.

I think most of our problems are pre-Paratici. Outside of Royal (who i still think would be a useful FB in a back 4) .

You can certainly see there's more thought and purpose for our transfers over the last 3 windows or so.

We're still Spurs and so how we operate won't change, but i think the scouting has been much improved.

Definitely.

There are always options as well and clearly a recruitment policy for the first team, youngers, and players that are young but could be good enough for the first 11 soon.
There is clearly some disconnect between the recruitment and manager though, Spence and Bissouma as clear examples.

The manager also wanted at least 1 but ideally 2 top class CBs in the summer. He got a makeshift on loan because we didn't want to fork out major money for the top targets.

Ultimately, the pounds spent isn't, and has never been the issue. It's about the determination and guile to solve problems as soon as possible, either through good scouting or spending big. I don't see the determination or the guile.

Levy and ENIC have never done that. They happily leave gaps in the starting 11 or the bench cos "we already spent so much" or "we just bought x player who turned out to be a dud, but we need to sell him before we can buy again". Meanwhile we start donkeys like Sessegnon, Emerson, Dier, Winks etc. for YEARS, which costs us crucial points and even cup finals.

Look at how long it took to add a top quality CB since we signed Jan/Toby, we've got Moussa Dembele's backup playing CB ffs.

That’s how it went down for sure.

They hired Nuno and asked him to play a system that he hadn’t used since Valencia to appease the fans and keep levy’s promise.
