Looks like Levy has found someone who he can relate to in Paratici.

Trying to get everything on the cheap.

That's why 29 days negotiation to sign a player that may not sign.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but let me just ask this esteemed group.

Have we EVER activated a player's release clause upon the opening of the window as has now become a pretty common player acquisition strategy?

I remember Luka Modric was a deal that was "done" at the close of the previous season, dunno if that was release clause related or not.

Not a release clause but i remember we signed Michael Brown right at the start of a January window. That was 2004 which says a lot.

It’s fucking insane!

It just doesn’t breech FFP.

And they won’t sign anyone for the next couple of windows.
They'll likely still be ok by FFP even if they do buy Fernandez. Going by transfermarket, since 2019 they are roughly £430M in the Red on transfers, but as you say, the longer the contract, the better the amortisation will be. They've pretty much balanced their books, until this window, with multiple loans and a few biggish sales, with Hazard being the biggest one.

As has been said though, it's a massive risk which could backfire spectacularly on them.

It won't though, they're not us.

I rage-listed my City ticket weeks ago.
I rage-listed my Spam ticket weeks ago.
I'm on the verge of rage listing my Chelsea ticket too.

I’m not going to city as can’t make it, don’t particularly want to go to the other either but I will if there are protests because I want to join in. But I also want to support the team, because I think we can still do something decent this season. Don’t let ENIC force decent fans away for a tourist to take your seat. That’s part of what they want.

Regardless of whether or not it is true, why should Sporting pay the administration charges to facilitate our payment structure?

We're the ones that need the instalment payments. We should pay the associated costs.
Don't act like you know how this usually works. Maybe the selling side is usually responsible for fees. E.g. when I sold my house, a proportion of the sale price went to the agent, not an additional fee from the buyer.

If we're to believe Ornstein, Spurs being asked to pay the admin fee is a surprise. Why should it be a surprise if there are not standard procedures for such fees or Spurs already had an agreement on these fees too?
