It's extremely damning as to the state of our squad that pretty much every player we want rid of is just about a loan.

Out on loan
Rodon
GLC
Winks
Reguillon
TND
Doherty
Gil

Still yet to shift Moura, Sanchez, and need to move on Dier, Davies, Tanganga etc and upgrade.

I suspect in the coming 2-3 seasons our net spend will have to be quite high just because we don't really have any assets to let go. Even if we sold Kane in the summer, he's not going to command a mega-fee like he would have 2 years before.

We deserve this for buying so many sub-par players. We now have around £200m worth of players out on loan because they aren’t good enough to stay here.

That summer when we spent £100m on Ndombele and Lo Celso will haunt us for years to come. We couldn’t afford to get the Dembele/Eriksen replacements wrong and we did. Catastrophically so.

there is the remote possibility that 1-2 of these players will convince their current club to buy them.
it's on them, if they prove to be sh*t players, it's normal nobody will spend a penny for them

Yep. This is why a takeover or outside investment is a must. Sell to buy is dead for us because no one on the continent has a pot to piss in and all premier league recruitment has improved so much no one wants our chaff like they used to.

Isn't that why the deals are being set up the way they are with loans, stretched payments etc?
We still have to deal with the hangover from what turned out to be some epically shit past transfers.

So Woolwich miss out on both Mudryk and Caicedo and instead go for bargain basement Trossard and Jorginho instead.

Bare in mind both Mudryk and Caicedo wanted to go Woolwich.

Hope it costs them and they crash and burn.
Worryingly I think Pep has just about lost the plot at City now, they will still pick up points quite easily by virtue of being City, but not sure they have that bit extra to reel in a frontrunner this season...

Might start putting a decent sized bet on Woolwich to win every match from now, if that doesn't jinx them I don't know what will...

2020 not much better although less costly £27m on Reggie, £13.5m on Doc, £11m on Rodon. The ghost of Steve Hitchen will loom large over the club for years, enabled by our board.

Yet we are let to believe, that even if we are not winning the trophies that was hoped (and priced tickets) for, then at least we have built a "class squad" consistently improving it for "title challenges".

It's not that recruitment has improved, with the amount of money in the PL now it's just so easy to buy good players from Europe these days...who the fuck wants players that are proven not to cut it in the PL and are too expensive for every league outside it...

We haven't gotten any replacements truly right, for a long, long time. Sure, Kulu is exciting but stil no peak Eriksen or Dele. Benta is solid, but very off Dembele, Wanyama, etc.

Realistically we had 3 managers over 20 years, which really improved players permanently. Poch was the standout for his work with Rose, Walker, Dele etc. who were not always nailed on as top players. Add to that we have had Kane along with say 9-10 true greats from outside the club. 'Over 22 years.

Apart from the ENICs track record in squad building is pretty poor. And then you factor in random great players - or at least great sales - emerging within, organically.

Partly true but cant say i agree completely, Brighton, Brentford, Palace, Leeds, all have much better recruitment than we do. These are the sort of clubs we'd have sold our rubbish to in the past like we did with Stoke and Sunderland.
