Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

meh doesnt really work as Conte finished 4th in his half season stint, Jose finished 6th in his.
Putting anyone in charge who would have any new ideas.
And I literally mean anyone.

Including Ryan Mason.

At least I would watch games with any kind of interest. Cause it would be intriguing what I will see in the game.

Now under that boring idealess leech I know perfectly well - I can predict starting lineup; tactic and worst of all - our total apathy across the field.

One game he was not sucking life out of us, we all witnessed passionate, energetic and aggressive performance. I want more of this.
And l want less of getting humiliated by relegation fodder teams. Maybe you are next level masochist (cause on some level, all of us Spurs fans are) and want to suffer. I'd like to get something positive. Conte sure as hell cannot provide it.

this exact comment could have come from a manager thread in last few months of Mourhino's, Nunos and Poch's reign at the club.
pretty much the same thing was being said about all 3 at the end

Woolwich bottled their last 2 games , and united were shit under interm rangnick

And Jose didn't finish the season, we sack him 5 days before carabao cup final, there was like another 7-8 games left in the league, with only 4 points off top 4
Which is why it's absolute nonsense to sack him off that time

Could be.
Though Mou did not get players like Kulusevski, Bentancur, Porro, Richie, Bissouma, Perisic.

And in the long run I absolutely agree that just changing manager is not enough.
There needs to be long-term strategy and planning in place. To think few step ahead and have recruitment, management, academy all on the same page.

We are not turning back the transfers made within past 18 months and coming next season we WILL have following players on our books - Spence, Udogie, Gil, Sarr, Skipp, White, Sess.
We could theoretically sell all of them and continue under Conte or Conte-type-of-manager. But what is the point if our results are like they have been?

conte has never ever been a long term manager. 2 seasons and quit/resigned on every job except 3 with juve.

It is possible he’s never learned how to think long term because he hasn’t had to. Or doesn’t want to or plan to be somewhere long term.

He plays only his top XI players week in week out and rotates only when forced. He doesn’t give young players equal chance. He relies on his veterans until the end even when they’ve clearly fallen off.

You can get away with this short term. But it catches up in the long term. He’s never had to deal with any long term consequence as he’s been out the door.

Irrelevant, we went on a run of 10 wins, Woolwich didn't .
Such logic can easily be applied to right now in that case. We're only 5th because we bottled it.
Yeah, i'm happy for Conte to go as he doesnt suit us transfer wise or style of play but lets not rewrite history, he did incredibly well getting us top 4 last season and whilst not glory glory stuff we played some decent football. Just makes whats happened this season even more baffling. Best for all parties to move on.

And more importantly so can opposition managers. Pre game planning must be a dream for our opponents

Right now i'd probably just settle for any manager that doesn't play this nonsense 5 at the back system.

I despise any system that has an extra defender on the pitch. If Conte had the balls to play a proper 3 at the back, like the Cruyff model i'd like to see it but his bullshit bastardized version makes me ill.

You can also the same jose was 6th because spurs bottled. We were 1st by December under him scoring goals for fun
Mourinho was terrible for us. One of the worst appointments we've ever made. We had a decent spell of a few games at the start of 2020 /21 and then were clinging on with terrible performances. Many of us said it wasnt sustainable and so it proved. The performances from mid December onwards were horrific. In many ways it is a mirror image to this season. A few fortunate wins early on before reality catches up with us. All the time knowing we're limping on with a manager that wont be here much longer.

The 5 at the back not the problem. It's the lack of quality, cohesion, or a real style of play that's the problem.

I can easily see a back 5 with this squad being very effective. It was for a good stretch of last season.

It's things like refusing to bench Son, refusing to bed in Bissouma, or give a chance to Skipp/Sarr. Playing slow passive football, refusing to make subs. Using Son the wrong way, especially given that the right formula has already been shown to him.

He stands to make a lot of money doing this.
Sign a 5 year deal deal, get sacked after 2 and get paid something for the last 3, get a new job straight away on a 5 year deal, get sacked after 2 and get paid something for the last 3. 10 years wages in 2 years.
