Further re: Spence.....

There ought to be a big flux of personnel at the back (see your list).....

Can Emerson play CB? ....LB? ...What gaps in the squad would that fill/create? Will Spence end up as a deputy winger?

It'll be interesting how the pieces fall into place... Ditto our WFwds.

It's all up in the air to be honest. We don't even know who will be at the helm come August. We could well see a shift in formation meaning, the attention on transfers would / could shift.

100%

....It's very unlikely that things won't shift. Only the core 'for sale' list is relatively predictable.

We wont get a fee. Free transfer the best route, same for Lloris, they wont get as much in wages elsewhere but they will get a signing on fee which will more than compensate. I doubt either want to spend probably the last season or 2 of their careers never playing.

Perisic's wages were hiked in order to compensate for a signing on fee when he joined.... If he goes to Inter for free on the same wage it will prove a great resolution for us.

I agree, but the club just spent a fortune on a new player for his spot so... as with Kane; who knows?

Of those, I'd keep Lenglet and Danjuma. They would be decent squad players. Otherwise, we are eating into our budget towards buying first team players, like a keeper and a defender (unless they are both priced ridiculously high of course, in which case screw them both mwhahahahah!)

Keeper, Forster*, Whiteman*
Defender, Dier, Romero, Davies*, Lenglet, Defender
Royal, Porro, Udogie, Sessegnon*
Skipp*, Hojbjerg, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr
Kane*, Son, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Danjuma, Gil

(+ our academy players, like White, Parrott, Scarlett e.t.c.)
You don't want to eat into the budget yet you want to spunk ~£30m on Danjuma? Because he's played about 25 minutes in total and scuffed one in against Preston???

I think what's going missing for some is that Danjuma won't be here to be assessed by the assumed new gaffa in pre-season....... We don't have that luxury to decide if he's worth buying or not at that point.... All we have is his time in training with Conte and the pittance of time he's spent on the pitch... Then he's off back to Spain.

The value of the whole option to buy facility has already been pissed away by a combination of a lack of game-time and the fact that Conte (presumably) will leave too.

I struggle to see a world where Danjuma is here next season.

Absolutely bizarre signing, at a time as well where it had just started to look like Gil was playing his way into Conte's thoughts.

I know it was reported that Gil wanted away, but that seems like the kind of thing that was down to lack of playing time and had he continued to build his way up then you would assume he would have regained happiness.

Instead we get Danjuma for a few months starting from square one.

I think the loaning out of Gil was the "bizarre" (dumb) part......

Once we was, we had to bring someone in that area (Lucas barely fit, Son playing crap, Richy & Kulu could have re-lapsed as they were also still feeling their way back from injury) and the option to buy meant the Danjuma deal had potential progression to it, but..... (See last post)

For bench and rotation purposes and with the capacity to score maybe 5/6 goals in all comps he'd have at least proved a short term hit.

Well yeah, I guess it depends on how the whole thing went down...

Did we loan in Danjuma because Gil insisted on going, or did we loan out Gil because Danjuma became available?

If the former then ok, he was available as a quick fix when we were in a pinch, if the latter then it just seems like needless player trading to ultimately stand still.

Even if the former, then it would have been preferable to go all out to turn an area of weakness into a strength rather than just sit back and say "yeah it's fine, we've got an arse in that seat".

I mean, he seems to be behind Lucas in the pecking order FFS, might as well have just not bothered!

Does not alter the fact Levy cannot force him out . Kane has to want to go to the club , I could easily see him turning down Bayern Munich . City don’t need him , Levy could not allow him to go to the Arse or Chelsea, pretty sure Kane would say no as well . If he wants to stay in UK it’s United or nothing . Newcastle possibly , but not yet guaranteed trophy winners
He couldn't force him out before either, not much has changed in that regard, that's how contracts work.

Did we (A) loan in Danjuma because Gil insisted on going, or did we (B) loan out Gil because Danjuma became available?

Oh yeh, it's played out terribly in that respect and yeh if it's B (above) then that's dumb........ I suspect it's C though; that Conte wasn't keen enough on Gil to reassure him about game-time and thus he requested the loan.

......I don't mind such young players as Spence (*) & Gil on loan if there's a long term plan for them; it's just the dicking about with them that I'm at odds with.

(*I've said it over and over; we should have loaned Spence straight back to Forest when we bought him.... They subsequently went out and bought TWO RBs ffs! ....He could have had a full year as #1 in the EPL under his belt by now!)

Gil Needs some strength and conditioning work.

Look at his legs here compared to Lamela.

I definitely agree with hindsight, in the summer though I was assuming/hoping he would be one of 2 rotating and either Emerson or Doherty would be on their way.

Obviously the club shouldn't have required hindsight for this though, it should have been clearly communicated between Conte/Paratici/Levy that he would get minimal game time at best and would be better served in the long run by doing exactly as you say.
