Why is our wish not to sell our best player representative of a club in paralysis?

Would PSG be in paralysis if they didn’t want to sell Mbappe? city if they didn’t want to sell Haaland?
Because it's clear he isn't signing a new deal and will either leave this summer or the next

If it's the next , we don't get a penny to replace him

I'm sure City wouldn't bury their heads in the sand in a similar situation

Because if he’s not going to sign a contract then we are simply delaying the inevitable and forgoing the fee.

And I’d personally rather see him move to Madrid (if it’s a realistic option) than live it up for our rivals.

I have zero issue with people wanting us to keep him for a year. There’s not a ‘right’ answer in this instance. Either way we’re screwed.

I suppose my one hope is that there is a very clear discussion this Summer about Kane’s intentions and the club has the chance to make the best possible decision based upon that discussion.

Near impossible to replace Harry with a 100mil fee????

How about trying to replace him next summer when he can walk away for free!!

What is this bullshit

Can’t argue with any of that. I think we’d be in this situation even if we had a manager and a DoF, so just didn’t know why it meant we were in paralysis. I’ll assume you meant the Kane situation rather than the wider club in this case.

I suppose if we let him go now, we don’t have the chance to spend next season persuading him that he is better off signing with us again? Do we take that chance and maybe have nothing at the end? Or cash in now?

If we cash in now, I’d be very surprised if we got near £100m. Maybe £70m? And if he helps us into top five next season, what’s that worth?

Yes, I meant paralysis specifically in relation to Kane.

My worry is that the club hope he’s going to stay and are somehow going to convince him to stay. And who knows, perhaps it’s as much down to Harry to be open and honest as it is the club in general.

I’d also just much rather see him go abroad, but I accept that’s not realistic.

Julian Alvarez, osimhen, vlahovic..the latter two will find their way into PL soon.

Top 4 may rather invest in young players than Kane by the end of next season. Even if Mancity goes for kane , he will become a bench option there which I don't think kane would relish when he has an eye on the shearer record.
Apart from maybe Osimhen, neither of those 2 comes close to Haaland right now (Alverez is still a very good player though). If they were close then 1 of them would have been at Real M. already.
And Julian Alvarez is already at Man City.

The gamble is to strengthen the first xi while keeping kane, then hopefully ending up in top 4 once again and this empowers levy to convince Kane to sign a new deal ( he will be tantalisingly close to shearers record and won't risk a restart in another club where he may be part of a rotation, while at spurs he is the first name on the team sheet)

It's incredible people don't seem to understand this.

Chance of that happening is very low. We have fucked the manager search already and even if we pull a rabbit out of a hat (Nagelsmann) we would still probably need 200-300m of spending.

Next season there will be City with Woolwich, Newcastle, Liverpool, United and Chelsea going for it.

Keeping Kane does however mean even if we totally fuck up this summer we should avoid a relegation battle.

One way of guilting him into staying is by dangling the "shearer record" carrot..levy says he won't sell to a pl club and his only chance of a pl club move will be next year on a free ...by then approaching 31 he may not be very appealing a target for the big pl clubs who will have their eyes on "haaland-like" young players
Kane has scored 28 league goals. 28! And he can ping a pass. Someone mentioned Vlahovic, he’s scored 10 goals in Serie A as a comparison.

Kane will 31 next summer but for a FREE - there will be plenty of interest from Top 4 clubs if his performances don’t fall off a cliff. Maybe Pep would like a chance to find a tactic that can play Kane with Haaland up top - or maybe Benezema will retire and Haaland will be off to Madrid.

I think Woolwich had a bit of a flukey run of form and their true level was exposed in their tougher fixtures in the second half, don't consider them "unbeatable" like Mancity or the way Newcastle is shaping up. ManU and Chelsea are not very formidable either.

I think the top 4 battle is very manageable with Kane leading the line if a decent manager walks in and we finally luck out on some player buys especially to revamp the CBs

Vlahovic has had an injury-stricken season, but he has shown his levels at Fiorentina.

No top 4 club will offer kane a starting guarantee like spurs will, by the end of next season when he is hitting 31. All of them will have their preferred young striker leading the line and kane will be more of a rotation for them to keep the squad fresh for all competitions.

People understand they just don’t believe that we’ll win that gamble. This squad has earned 24 points in 21 games since 1 Jan.

So given the current squad and our recent record with transfers - gambling on Top 4 next year seems like a fool’s bet.

Players don't tend to sign a new long term contract when they are down to the final 12 months. Campbell didn't, Eriksen didn't, and I don't see why Kane will considering the state of the club right now. It really depends on him, if he wants a better chance to win trophies and play CL football he has to leave. If all he wants to do is be the main man, score goals and break goalscoring records then he may stay, however if that was the case he would have already signed a new contract.

Using that line of argument..given our record with transfers isn't it better to keep kane rather than sell him?

The way ppl here are going on about selling kane and his value, one would think that proceeds from Kane's sales is going to end up on the PayPal accounts of each fan

I think I'd much rather keep Kane for an extra year than sell him.

But each to their own.

Must be nice to live in a world so filled with rainbows and unicorns.

Joking aside

You forgot Liverpool.

Woolich will be fine unfortunately, they’re squad full of young players who will continue to improve and they’ve fallen apart after Saliva and Tomiyasu injuries forced Rob Holding into the starting lineup. They’ll strengthen in the summer and be fine. Won’t win title (touch wood) but will be in Top 4.

But at the moment, our level is Aston Villa, Brighton and Brentford. I don’t think we’re getting anywhere near Top 4 next year.

Will Levy open the transfer purse strings with Confernce League or no European football at all next year? Even if he does what about our recent transfer history gives you any confidence that we’ll have a successful window that meaningfully strengthen the squad?

Done feel strongly about this one way or another but Vlahovic had a good run of form at Fiorentina. His actual level may be lower. For what it’s worth.
