Maybe. As I said, it may not work out. But Ndombele didn’t have any problems doing 90mins for Lyon.
Dombs never averaged 90 mins for Lyon. Closer to the 70 mark. And that's in Ligue 1...where the physical demand is half what it is in the EPL.

Be nice to be given a fair chance though. Could be a viable or useful squad option
I guess that's a good use of 60mil transfer fee + 200 G's a week salary

Have a feeling Munny and the big fella gonna use their City Group connection to try and get Kalvin on loan. Kid ain't getting proper gametime anytime soon at City the form they're in...even if Gundogan does go. If he wants to keep his place in the England squad, he's gotta play on the regular. City won't send him to a big rival, but to us I reckon they would.

Not sure how I'd feel about him to be honest, he's never excited me.

The city connection could make sense.

He played under Bielsa as well who was a foot on the pedal attacking maniac. Maybe He's a 6 for Ange?

I thought he was England's best CM in the Euro's but I'd be the same as you, not really sure.

The volley to the wide forward is not so much Hatate, as it is Ange's instructions to get it forward quickly. Still nice player.

Yeah it's an instruction but I'm not sure Ange can give that instruction to the CM's we have now and they pull it off...

Then the engine to sprint and make a run into the box.

If you pick up Hatate and Scott you have x2 8/10's that are legit two-footed and able to swap sides depending on who you want to partner them with.

Wouldn’t say that just yet. Porro has not proven himself as a defender, neither has Udogie. Bissouma, Kulusevski and Son both had poor seasons so the jury is out on them. Finally we don’t know how Betty will be after injury. He’ll of a team on paper ie what it should be does not mean a hell of a team on the pitch.
It ain't a hell of a team on paper to begin with. And that CB partnership (which ain't ever happening anyway)...man, could we do more unreliable between a dude who's got crystal knees and another who's a walking red card & pen to the opposition?

Rico Henry & Mbeumo...now that's some players we should have a convo about
Think a lot of it is how Brentford set up and how they want to attack teams. Toney positions for a long ball, midfield hunts for the break in front, Mbuemo runs beyond. Lots of chipped balls to Rico Henry on the flanks.. he's rarely expected to pass between the lines to midfield and cb's rarely pull wide or want the ball under pressure. Now, maybe he might not be elite at passing short, but he can control and kick well with both feet, I think he's a great option, and hg to go with that. His short passing well reviewed in his two appearances for Spanish national team when the team is set-up to keep possession that way

Definite bye bye:

Lloris
Tanganga
Davinson
Perisic
Reguillon
Winks
Lo Celso

Probably/Possibly:

Dier
Davies
Hojberg
Gil
Ndombele

Don't count:

Damjuma
Lenglet

Then there is Kane...

so definitely 7 (9 including end loans)
Possibly up to 11 (13 including end loans)
Agree with most of this but why move Hjoberg now ? For stability surely he needs to stay another season especially as Betancourt .

We have 33 senior players. 2 are under 21 so at least 6 have to leave or go on loan even if we don't make a single new addition to the squad.

Depends on him.

Does he see himself as a player that should be playing European football?

Will he be happy if he doesn't fit the system and doesn't play.

He has the max value he ever will for us, right now.

If you get an offer of 25-30m that money goes back into the rebuild.

He did 26 90 mins (and an 87) out of 31 starts. League 1 is not slow or lacking physicality. It just lacks stars over the age of 24.

I guess that's a good use of 60mil transfer fee + 200 G's a week salary

It would be better than the use we got out of him last season.

What was going on that season that he was able to play 90mins so often and was he dominating for 90 mins or hiding for large sections of games?

If he can be motivated to get fit and dominate for 90mins, he's the level of #6 that we could never afford or attract without CL.

Can and Could are lifting heavy weights in that sentence tho.

Sorry if I am cutting across a thread, but I don’t think anyone of us needs to look @ West Ham with any envy. As nice as last minute winners are, would any of us swap Lucas’ for thier goal last night ? I don’t think so.

Do we look at Bolton and think “I wish we won the Papa Johns” this year ? I know I don’t.

First off we were not in the Papa Johns (our mens team ) and second, it’s shit.

We were not in the Conference league and that’s absolutely shit too, despite what Robbie Savage might indicate, when clearly pissed or coked up.

When West Ham finished above us in 2021 I was furious. But that was a real insult, not last night.

This year they finished 20 odd points below us. By finishing 6 places below us they earned £6m less approx. By winning last night they gained approx £8m. So even on cold finances it was ridiculous how “serious” they took the whole thing, they could well have gone down due to this shit competition.

Keep the faith 😎 Much rather us than them.
No, this kind of seems to either have missed or just totally ignored my point.

Why should it be one or the other, Lucas hattrick OR a cup win? Like we can't have any nice things going forward because we had that good night ~5 years ago???

I'd much rather be us WITH a cup or two to go with it, it's really not such an outlandish desire...

And I don't give a flying fuck about the finances, I'd knock a couple of million off the clubs books in exchange for a trophy in the cabinet without a second thought.

If you're keeping him around you accept that he's a 60min starter or an impact from the bench.. which isn't a big deal when you have 5 subs. Think he could be useful for the style well be playing if he's kept around.. but you could also see him being cut adrift fairly quickly if his body language and effort grates on Postecoglou in pre-season.
