No, this kind of seems to either have missed or just totally ignored my point.

Why should it be one or the other, Lucas hattrick OR a cup win? Like we can't have any nice things going forward because we had that good night ~5 years ago???

I'd much rather be us WITH a cup or two to go with it, it's really not such an outlandish desire...

And I don't give a flying fuck about the finances, I'd knock a couple of million off the clubs books in exchange for a trophy in the cabinet without a second thought.
Sorry mate. Cutting across was not meant to be answering your points, hence the caveat.

I understand your pov. Time is frustrating, but worth remembering that we hardly have an empty trophy cabinet.

I don’t get how anyone can watch Maddison and not rate him, he’s a quality quality player who would instantly improve our team.

Get it done if possible
Absolutely incredible player on the ball but at times his pressing has been questionable. Can he play as a Hybrid 8 which everyone and their dog has been telling me is how Ange likes to set up his teams.

Then their is the fact we have been linked with him for well over a month when by all reports we were in the middle of the recruitment process for manager. This seems like the board once again interfering in player recruitment and that is what scare me.

Finally he will cost us £50m when we need 1 or 2 Centre Backs and a Goal Keeper.

If we're in competition with Newcastle for Maddison I can't see us being successful apart from if he wants to live in London.

I'm 37, in my Spurs supporting life we've won 2 League Cups, tbh I don't want to win trophies so I can boast about the number of pots in our cabinet, I want to win them to have that moment of victory, that day of celebration, that following days/week of basking in the afterglow...

The Lucas moment was Euphoric, but in no way does it compensate for us doing nothing of note since, or take away the annoyance at watching fucking West Ham lift a trophy in the meantime.

And the whole which would you rather have argument just really gets to me, because it needn't be one OR the other, we should be more than capable of having that night to reminisce on and still making new memories.

I thought we were going to change the way we do recruitment? Ange comes in and asks for Maddison, he'll probably be given Zaniolo for 35m instead.

But why are you annoyed at West Ham winning a competition we were not in ? And a competition that is very clearly third rate. We don’t get annoyed at Bolton winning a cup at Wembley 6 weeks ago.

That’s the only bit where I think our pov are clashing 👍

We can be too down on ourselves sometimes. In the past 4 years it’s been teeth itching at times that’s for sure.

No he can't do Hybrid, he is diesel but can be converted easily to Electric with 90 mins on fully charged battery.

Because we have had so many bites of the cherry at EL level and then last season in ECL and couldn't bring home a very winnable trophy, (more detailed answer in the other thread).

It's like if I'd spent 30 minutes mindlessly pumping 2ps into one of those shit machines at the amusements to kill time, and gotten nothing out, then moved along and some scruffy pikey rocks up, whacks in a couple of coins and immediately a torrent of 2ps gush out of it for him...

Does it change my life? No. Is the prize of any notable value? No. Does winning it demonstrate this strange creature is more gifted than me in some way? No. Will I look on in annoyance, rolling my eyes and saying FFS...? Absofuckinglutely.

Agreed football are about those moments of euphoria of pleasure. Personally winning a trophy is secondary but it does amplify that massively the pleasure and enjoyment watching football. The fact is only 3 or 4 games have I felt true enjoyment when watching Spurs play in the last 3-4 seasons.

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane has reportedly decided that he wants to join Manchester United.

The Englishman, branded as an ‘underrated’ player by Jose Enrique, will enter the final year of his contract next month, and his future is still up in the air. There is a good chance he could leave Spurs this summer, and he has been linked with a few huge clubs.

Manchester United are one of them, and Football Transfers have shared some good news for the Red Devils.

Tottenham star Harry Kane wants to join Manchester United

There are very few clubs in the world who can afford to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham, even when he has just a year left on his contract.

Daniel Levy will certainly demand a fortune for him, and as things stand, Real Madrid and Manchester United are probably the only two sides who can match the Spurs chairman’s demands.

The report claims that “Erik ten Hag is eager to sign Kane and Manchester United can afford the £100 million” that would be required to make Levy even consider selling him.

A bigger positive for Manchester United fans is that Kane is apparently ready to leave Spurs and join Ten Hag’s side.

He ‘wants’ the move to Old Trafford and the report claims that if Levy blocks it this summer, he’s willing to wait a year and join the Red Devils for free in 2024.

Tottenham will then get nothing for him.

Daniel Levy has a very difficult decision to make at Tottenham.

No chairman ever wants to lose his best player, but Kane has given everything to Spurs over the years and with just a year left on his contract and his transfer value still so high, it makes sense to cash in on him.

However, signing a replacement for Kane when Tottenham have no European football to offer is a very difficult task, and that could convince Levy to just hold on to his star man.

It will be interesting to see what will happen in the coming weeks.

It's the cup winners cup equivalent, furthermore when we were in that competition we were shit.
That competition is around our level, not champions league or Europa league.

The best supported team + The best player in the league = click bait

Don't fall for it

Inter-toto cup equivalent you mean.

Edit: You can disagree as much as you want, Victor Meldrew, but you’d be wrong.
Nah I'd have him as right, solely because it's the third tier European trophy, which the CWC was when it existed.

Intertoto, I guess you'd describe it as the 4th tier, but it wasn't really considered an actual European trophy, whilst there was a physical cup I think, the prize was a spot in the real European competition the following season, it was also played during pre-season rather than in the actual season. And to cap it all off, there were actually multiple "winners" each season I seem to recall.

You can rank it the same level of prestige as ECL if you like, but they aren't equivalent in any real sense.

FR seems like he gets most of his info from agents and this Maddison story comes off as agent and Leicester driven from the start of the summer.

Tbh if we get Maddison he's a quality player, if Newcastle get him that spunks 50m of their budget and we can get 2 of 3 from Scott, Hatate, Lee Kang-In.

Maddison is more ready this season but Scott and Hatate sets you up for years.

Yeah this doesn’t make sense.

Levy hired Ange to not be a checkbook manager, work with younger players and develop them.

You’re telling me the first thing he does is asks to get into a bidding war with Newcastle ??

:ange-hmm:
