I’d argue we had an opportunity to do more than stay there.

If the club had the fucking minerals to invest in the players Poch needed to improve his squad, who knows where we could have been moving into the new stadium.

“Staying there” is actually a very good proxy for what ENIC see as an acceptable level of ambition and is one of the reasons they don’t really understand that they own a football club, not just a football business.

There is ebb and flow for all the clubs at the top end of the league. That's just how it is.... There's only 1 club that's been consistently challenging for the title 9 out of the last 10 seasons.

Anyway, it’s fucking boring. Postecoglou looks like the kind of coach who could get them the opportunity again. Let’s hope they have learned the lesson.

Amen.

Plenty of relatively enjoyable player-talk going on in this thread until the some twat waded in moaning about Newcastle being richer than us.

You just want to make excuses all the time for the clubs penny pinching.

There is nothing (beyond ENIC) stopping us offering big wages. We are a very profitable club. But we don't even try and compete on that kind of level.
According to the well respected source, FORBES, the MOST profitable football ⚽ club in the world

But we act like a poundshop outfit on the brink of bankruptcy. Looking for a bargain here and a knock off there.

No wonder Woolwich and Chelsea fans love Daniel Levy and want ENIC to stay

Hatate, Kamada, Eze, Lee Kang-in, Samardzic, Gabri Veiga, Carlos Alcaraz, Koopmeiners, Lovro Majer, Enzo Le Fee, Alex Scott. All different types, some I wouldn't personally want, but there's plenty out there who could add spark, goals, creativity as an advanced or deeper position. Somebody who could pass like Koopmeiners from deeper areas would be nice.
Or even Harvey White?

Transfer debates will never be ENIC free, sadly.
