Ange loves Gallagher apparently, let's see how quick those who want the club to back Ange actually back this decision...
How can anyone know this...seriously it makes no sense. Unless you have footage of him declaring his love. I don't rate Gallagher at all, I also wanted us to risk Gallardo as coach. I will 100% back the new coaches decisions now he is in charge. So IF it happens the rate of quickness is immediate.

I agree to an extent. We did go for expensive players, though, but have whiffed on pretty much all of them, so at this point I wouldn't be surprised if we were a bit gun shy to spend as much. Not to mention we would have a hard time attracting these players, even if we did pony up.

Once our scouting and player assessment has improved and we have some success with a few 40-50 million players, as well as become a more attractive proposition for players, I think we will be willing to take the plunge into higher transfer fees. But we're nowhere close to that at this point in time.

That being said, I do like the model of uncovering the hidden gems more. Not from a financial standpoint, but because it just feels so much more satisfying.
Don’t mind uncovering hidden gems.
But if they have whiffed on 50-60m players have they tried to figure out why?

Fuck popular opinions.

Loan deal with option at 40m, don't pay all his salary, agree with him that he'd get less than half if it came off but that's still more than he'd get anywhere else...

Technically brilliant, uses both feet well, balance, scoring instincts. Pressure would be off a bit.

Could Ange use him in the advanced 8/10 role or is he pure winger? He could play either wing imo
Get Scott instead beats people for fun!

Even if you know that means you never win anything?

It’s pretty much certain that we won’t see another British owned club win the Prem
It’s got nothing to do with not having British owners.
I don’t particularly want Radcliffe — he’s a United fan and there are plenty of foreign owners I would prefer to him — but I don’t want the Qatar group currently bidding for United. They’re bad for us and bad for the EPL.
If we get them, I’ll put my energy into supporting my true local club, Leyton Orient, whom I know won’t win anything in my lifetime.

I think where they wipe the floor with ENIC is getting in the right people and recruitment structure to decide which players should be on the list.

Don't forget Spurs had Michael Edwards as an analyst, but Redknapp apparently wasn't into data analysts - he preferred 'old fashioned' scouts. And when Comoii joined Liverpool, he took the opportunity to tempt Edwards to join him.

And when Comoli disappointed as DoF at Liverpool (as he had at Spurs) Edwards took over ....... and had a great run.

ENIC got Edwards before data analysts were shown to be effective - ahead of the curve but sadly coupled with an old fashioned manager.

Difficult to judge unless we know who plays on all the other planets.

The (admittedly little) bits I've seen of Scott have been very impressive. Also we know the championship is physical. I'm in for 30M
£30 million for a player who’s not in a top league and only scored one goal all season. I get that we need to buy potential but not for £30 million. That’s just ludicrous. I do think the lad is a cracking player though but if we are spending £30 million they need to be straight into the team.

Not unless we sell players to raise close to 100m
Agreed. If you put it in the context of Levy's remarks I think there will have to be some significant outgoing to offset whatever spending is done. If you look at the players other than Kane or Son who might bring a significant return it would be Hjojberg, Dier, Lloris, Richarlison, and Kulu. Lloris is one foot out the door and I think you have to move two or three of the remaining four.

It's not really just about one guy though. It's the whole structure and process. The last 5-6 years has been a fucking mess. For a club like us, that can't afford to piss money around, we've got to be much smarter.

What's he said? Said how much money we have to spend?

Mate, we're getting fuck all for Hugo and we can't sell Kulu; we don't even own him!

Yes and No.

Edwards was recruited to Liverpool for his data skills - they had none before he arrived and Comoli knew nothing about it. FSG arrived shortly after - and FSG who had been exposed to 'moneyball' in US sports were very receptive to Edwards so when Comoli was moved on Edwards was fast tracked to be Technical director. Klopp succeeded Rogers and was a lot more receptive having worked with a Technical Director at Dortmund ........ and so Edwards was allowed to use data to identify players to recruit, with dara showing how powerful a tool it was. Liverpool think Edwards was the man who dragged them into the data age.

Liverpool may have had most of the other parts of a recruitment structure set up to bolt Edwards data on to.

Levy was one of the first owners to hire a DoF, before that managers (and brown paper bags) were commonly doing transfers - so he got that right, Sadly didn't insist on appointing another when Mitchell left as Poch didn't want a DoF.

I think Spurs had a number of recruitment positions filled .... however imo its one of these jobs where real top capability is difficult to identify, so less good people can easily be appointed. Certainly from 2016-20 our recruitment was appalling in quality - probably Sanchez and Moura were the best players recruited in that period despite lots of money spent..... and senior football people involved were Hitchens and Poch (Chief Scout and Manager).

I'd like to think that under Paratici the recruitment staff budget increased allowing more of them to be recruited (and hopefully quality increased), more wide spread scouting and more data centric recruitment etc. We do know the names of some of those coming in, but it might take a couple of windows to see how effective they have been.
