I’ve never said anything negative about the player himself. I, like everyone on this forum, know nothing about him. I do not watch Empoli play football.

He may well turn out to be a new Buffon. What I find hilarious is the sudden explosion of ‘he’s this, he’s that, these Redditors told me and I’ve watched the YouTube!’.

But what I can work out is that Raya was the main target, and from reports it’s the fee which is the issue. If he wasn’t £40m, he’d be a Spurs player. Which suggests we’re not moving on to this bloke because we’re convinced he’s better, it’s because he’s cheaper.

Otherwise from the start we’d have gone for the cheaper, easier to attain option who happened to be incredible.
Raya was the first option because our HG situation is a mess. It was a simple solution on that front. Raya has also done NOTHING to deserve being priced as the 4th most expensive keeper ever.

As it hasn’t worked out, I fully expect us to bring in Tosin, Maddison and hopefully Scott.

I’m not mad, because compared to times past, it appears that a process has been followed.

No drawn out saga lasting into the start of the season, no trolley dash in the last 48 hours of the window. This is about as efficient as one could hope.

If we're going for Vicario, looks like we must be looking to boost our HG elsewhere...Maddison?

I find the whole ‘fourth more expensive goalkeeper’ thing overblown. Keepers don’t transfer that often (most of the elite ones tend to find their way to a top team early and stay there) so big fees for them are rare. But 40m in the current market isn’t a big fee for an important player.

But we’ll see about the new guy.

Vicario is a very promising keeper. I watch a fair bit of Serie A and got to see him a few times pull some incredible, ridiculous saves. We'll need some of that next season, when our defence will likely still be shit to very average.

Lad is young, but I've seen him be vocal, marshalling his defenders...see how he does in England at first, with the language barrier...and the players' committee.

Decent pair of feet too, though not seen enough of him to accurately rate his passing game. But at the end of the day, if we had better & less lazy defenders & CMs, maybe pur keeps would've easier passing lanes.

Also, he's not the biggest, so I'm keen to see how he'll deal with the famous physicality of the PL, but look at De Gea, who really struggled early doors and then went on to improve big time.

Soooooo...welcome and good luck to the kid.

But yeah, very much feels like ONCE AGAIN we went for No 2 or 3 on our list of targets cause the Baldy One just wouldn't pay what was required to get the star man. But sure LP & his gang will find yet another way to turn this into a compliment to their master...

Nah, Levy and his shot show circus has earned these fan reactions.

Even if they are massive bed wetters, he hasn’t done enough to earn that trust back yet.

This is my summary:

Vicario > expensive hobbit Raya = vive la data scouting revolución

Tapsoba OR Adaraboiyo with Lenglet as CB #2 = where is my Lakers t shirt, purple and gold all the way you cheap bastard.
We need both and all the cloggers shifted
So Raya is a Hobbit……great manners there . Really necessary??

Vicario is 27 in October….hardly young. He’s also 6’ 4” tall and you say he’s not the biggest. Have you got the wrong player?

Nice to get some feedback from those whom watch the league there.

Porro----Romero----Tasposa-----Udogie
----Bissouma--Maddison--Bentancur--
--Kulusevski--------------------------Son--

so with Bentancur out until Nov we will probably need another CM unless Ange is alright with Ndombele, Sarr, Skipp or even Devine starting.

would people be happy with that team?

Edit

or maybe he sees Porro as one of the attacking 3 and either Spence or Emerson starting at RB.?
I like it, but it's a little thin at the back - crying out for a DM to drop into a back 3 as the 2 fullbacks roam forward. They both need to significantly improve defensively too as they won't have the relative freedom of a wingback.

Is Maddison playing further forward as a 10? In that case, I'd swap him with Deki so Mads can cut infield, as the fullbacks will stretch the pitch out wide.

Since when is 6ft 4 'not the biggest'?

Were you watching all this fair amount of Serie A with your fucking eyes closed?
