It does.

Our chief scout is an Italian too? Dolce and Gabbana or sth like that,

Italian leagues good to scout though… they had a team in every European final this year.

Biggest problem with this is either;

1. Levy’s negotiation style means people get invested into a player we are interested in and as soon as the deal can’t happen, the fun is taken out of the next signing.

2. We are shit at keeping our business to ourselves
Although miss out on players from South America, Africa and other parts of Europe. We have got Romero , bent , kulu, peri amongst others from Italy. Not saying they were all bad purchases but we maybe don’t explore other markets as much plus we are often linked with other players from Italy as well.

Adaraboiyo I have seen enough to say I think he's great partner in style for Romero.

Tapsoba I've seen and researched enough to see why the club have him as #1.

The others are linked and it's more about researching the job in Ange's system that needs to get done. Don't need to be that player exactly. Hatate looks great though.
Depends what one's expectations are.

Tapsoba is, on paper, a signing that could really move the needle for us. But how many such players did we sign them past few years and they flopped badly? I'm also concerned that whenever the AFCON comes round, we'd have to cope without him for a month ish. But should we sign him, yeah for sure I'd be excited to see how he does.

As for Tosin & Hatate, going from Fulham & Celtic respectively to Spurs, that's a fair jump.

Say we sign them 3 on top of Vicario, I'm surely not expecting a top 4 finish. But give me P6 with fewer defeats and GA than last season and I'm happy as Larry. That'd be a solid first season for Ange & the newbies.

Yeah for sure.

Expectations have to be very different when you just finished 8th and are going for Tapsoba and Adaraboiyo, compared to the season before when you finished 4th and are going after Bastoni and Gvardiol...

Tapsoba and Tosin come off as players that can be Top 4, Cup challenging level players but maybe don't expect it in season 1. Vicario the same type of profile IMO.

You'd have to think the jump would be bigger for Hatate than Tosin?

Top 6, Cup run, good football... Great start for Ange, agreed.

I understand that Buffon has some experience for Italian clubs such as Juventus.

But what he doesn’t have is understanding of English conditions, our weather etc. But I do. I was A team goalkeeper at U14 level at my school.

Having watched Vicario on YouTube, I do not think he will adjust to English winds. Risky purchase.

Not much of a race if there is only one team left interested.

Offer 35 + addons, be ready to move on fast, let them know that. Fuck em for 60m. Dreamers

This window is quickly turning into one those rare cases where we, as the buying club, don't have to put up with the "fuck off price" bullshit.

Maddison is nice, but we can live without him. Leicester on the other hand, are in a bit of a bind, just like Brentford.

I did have some reservations about Raya - Only 6ft, not great on long shots and a lot of blunders with his short passing game leading to goals. One of his main strengths was long passes which doesn't seem to be what Ange wants.

My initial reaction was this was Levy penny pinching but to be honest we really need to push the boat out for a top CB and we need additions in other areas too. That 20m saved will probably be better spent elsewhere.

I will reserve judgment until the CB situation is resolved and I just hope Ange has had a big input in this decision.

Hopefully we get a Tapsoba here we go soon!

All well and good but we need more HG options now Raya isn’t coming.
We don't this year. Kane, Skipp, Spence, Davies and 17 non-HG are more than enough players for 38 PL and a smattering of cup games. Assuming Winks, Dier, Sess, Tanganga, Rodon are off. We can add more HG as needs dictate, but right now we would go with the best quality players we can find.

Been watching Tapsoba highlights (I know), he seems like the right profile to pair with Romero. Essentially what we wishd Sanchez would be.

Big, strong, fast, good at clearing aerial long balls, and of course good with the ball at his feet.

So we need to keep hold of Winks and Sessegnon, or are we still alright without them?

I assume Rodon counts as homegrown also.
Not necessarily, but if we intend to move them on, we do need to be bringing in replacement HG.

If the plan is to get back into the European spots, and don't forget that 5th now gets you CL, then we need to be planning for, and identifying, the right HG talent to get either in the next window or the following Summer, if not now.

If we're making decisions based on deep data analytics, then the data should be identifying talents in our lower leagues. The Scouts then go and watch them.

I think our recent acquisitions have been pretty good so far. OK the jury is still out on Gil and Sarr, but I can see both coming good under Ange.

We used to be pretty good at upgrading our squad with lesser known players. Identifying the talent and getting it to flourish. At the time we were a stepping stone for greater ambitions, but we're now a much harder but to crack when teams try to poach our players. So we're more likely to keep those talents into their prime than we were.

But we had a winning formula that was abandoned as soon as we hit CL.

If we go back to that policy of finding the young talent, I'd be more than happy, but I also expect us to bring in the right players regardless of the cost.

Aaaaaaand we're off
That looks revolting

I was never that excited about Raya, especially at 40mil. Always thought there was a better deal out there for us. If Gugli flops, well that's a 20mil I can live with wasting.

Same thinking re Maddison. There's just something about him, despite his mad stats, that makes me think 'stay away'.

If we're sticking with Serie A, there's that Domenico Berardi from Sassuolo who's just a beautiful player, but it looks like he's going to Lazio.

Ademola Lookman (HG) was superb for Atalanta last year...but would be very expensive. And likely wants to play in Europe.

I'd also like us to keep an eye on that kid striker from Torino, Pellegri. Big and strong, still very raw but bags of potential.

Exactly where I got to as soon I had a proper look at Vicario.

There is no reason he won't be better than Raya

Sounds like he’ll struggle with cold rainy nights in Stoke then.
