I’ve said this before. To get us to the next level of brand recognition— a Liverpool level, say — wouldn’t require a single trophy but multiple wins over successive years, City style.
That’s going to take a City level of financial commitment: a billion dollars or more of owner investment. The financial benefit to ENIC might be about 100-150m a year IF they could achieve it (as they would still be competing against United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and probably Newcastle). Of course, there would be trophies and the eternal gratitude of the Tottenham fans.
ENIC don’t have the stomach for it. They’re happy where they are and a minor trophy win would be gravy.
Smart recruitment would go a long way to helping. If our goalkeeper, centre backs and midfield signings this season hit it off, Kane has another worldie of a year and Ange gets his ideas across quick, we could have one hell of a season.
