We tried for a long time to get rid of him, the lad is doing well at Celtic, I hope he stays where he is. He comes down here, he will find himself back on the scrapheap pretty quickly.

We don’t know if we have had offers. We also don’t know what prices the club have quoted their agents.

If Lo Celso was 15m, I’m pretty sure he’d be gone by now.

Winks for under 5m? Homegrown, good season, CL experience… gone by now

Under Poch, we had alot of deadwood that ended up staying in his first season. Barring Livermore who was sold early on in the summer window, we pretty much sold anyone else in the last week of the window once Pochettino could determine whether or not the players were good enough for his system.

Could be but we didn’t wait for him to decide we needed a new keeper.

He could have analyzed those players same way he analyzed our GK situation

I've said all along that this window is extremely important. £200M was roughly what I felt needed to be spent to fix our issues, and I don't see that has changed with the sort of prices we're seeing for identified players. Say Maddison is £35M, Tapsoba £50M, VDV £30M. There's £115M right off the bat. Add Elmo and a few other astute signings and we're not far off.

It's not going to suddenly make us title challengers, but if the scouting is such that we end up with more hits than misses, it could set us up to the point where we are tweaking/refreshing the squad rather than overhauling it again.

Lloris, Hoj and Dier. Break up that players union, those 3 have cost is so many points. Loads more I would move on for little or no fee but they are a toxic trio of first 11 players that handicap us
 
I'm getting definite 'Arnie Slot' vibes about Maddison coming...

Insomuch as BEFORE he turned us down, Slot gave every indication he was at least interested... and I allowed myself (naively) to get excited!!

Mind you, HAD he come, we'd have turned him into Christian Gross...

...as it is, he'll probably win the CL with Feyenoord!

Same with Maddison... The feeling is he MIGHT come, and as such, ATM I feel he has a 'Dele pre-pandemic' about him, (it all seemed to go to shit for Dele after lockdown didn't it??)
...but Maddison hasn't signed for us yet, so IF we get him, expect him to turn into somewhere between Stephane Dalmat & Danny Murphy!

...and if he goes to Newcastle, he'll turn into their Kevin de Breuyne!!

Tell me in any logical, right minded scenario how THAT works???
