Good post. They haven't set a price? Where's the £60M come from then? I'm pretty sure this has been reported by numerous sources. One even quoted the sum and stated that we've offered half of that.
I make you right though, it is likely that it will drag on if Leicester have their hearts set on getting silly money.
But they've already been blown out by one suitor in Newcastle, and there appear to be no others showing much of an interest. You then have to factor in the player and where he wants to go if the price drops. We're in there early, he seems to want to come to Spurs, even when there was interest from Newcastle as well, we've already demonstrated to him that he's a first choice, so we've shown intent. Everyone else coming in, when the price goes down, is essentially throwing their hat in the ring to try and pick up a quality "addition" relatively cheaply.
That's my theory anyway, which could be wide of the mark.
Nah man. I'm not in it. I'm not picking sidesI had been engaging in on-topic good faith discussion about transfer strategy. You can agree or disagree and that’s fine.
Trauma hound then makes a disingenuous post looking to ridicule the discussion without adding anything of value.
You then intervene to say that I have the issue with tone?
I dont even want to change your view that my tone is as you describe. But I do think a reasonable person would say the issue with tone and content lay more with trauma hound than anything I had posted. But like Farage and Johnson on the BBC, kooky idiots around here get a pass.
Either we’re interested in meaningful discussion or we’re not.
This has to be the most optimistic post I’ve seen on TFC.We need to off load players, surely we should be exploring options of offers with players.
If we bid 35 + Winks and Tanganga for Maddison and Barnes. That's a fair deal. 2 HG players each and the quality in players if offset with a price. Leicester are also a club that might be able to ressurect a career in those 2.
Additionally, if we go for van de Ven we could give them a CB or even Sess who has played recently in Germany for Hoffenheim and actually think the Bundesliga suits him better.
3rd option, if we are interested in Tosin why not just straight swap Sess. He goes back to Fulham, a club he knows well and they are still in the PL. If they value Tosin at £15 million I think that's a fair price for Sess. We would make a £15 million loss but that's reflective of his performances and injury history.
I think we need to be smarter with these deals. We aren't ever going to pay the asking price, and negotiating down a few million won't make much impact.
There's still a scenario IMO where you could get Tapsoba, van de Ven, Tosin and Maddison without spending 200 million. The massive plus is offloading players.
Would Xabi Alonso as a Spanish speaking manager want Sanchez in reverse? I could see Sanchez being happy to move there. Same with Dier. £40 million + Sanchez/Dier for Tapsoba is a fair deal.
Then you front up money for Scott and say Bristol can have him back and we knock 5 million off their price for that.
I’m pretty sure we’ve had 15m offers for GLC.
Its a new dawn....
Really?A lot of players that perform well in Scotland also do in the Premier League.
It's probably a more consistent transition than coming from France, Spain or Italy.
Do you honestly think an agent for this kind of profile player would jump at the first club that made an offer? If he’s worth anything then he knows which teams are in the market for a player that fits his client’s profile and starts his own competition. He doesn’t need Romano’s help.Good tactics from "team Raiola".
Leak our interest in van der Ven to Fabrizio Romano & spark a bidding war, both in terms of tranfer fee AND agent fee / player salary with the scousers.
We currently have 5 LBs on the booksWe seriously fucked up signing him.
Due to a combination of injury issues and other choices, though, a seriously unimpressed Diego Simeone only sent Reguilon onto the field for Atleti on 12 occasions during his loan spell.![]()
Postecoglou saddled with Tottenham flop after prospective buyers back out to negotiate different deal
Tottenham Hotspur will have to find a new solution for Sergio Reguilon after Atletico Madrid abandoned negotiations to focus on a different left-back.www.teamtalk.com
Only two of his 11 La Liga appearances came as a starter, while his sole outing in the Copa del Rey was from the bench. Despite previous experience with Real Madrid and Sevilla, being back in Spain wasn’t as fruitful as it could have been for the 26-year-old.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Atleti will not be making an attempt to keep Reguilon after his loan spell. That can be inferred from the fact that they are now in talks for a new left-back.
According to AS, Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin has met with Celta Vigo president Carlos Mourino to discuss a deal for Javi Galan.

Simeone has supposedly given the green light to the transfer, which should be able to go through for less than the €18m release clause in Galan’s contract.
Galan outclassed Reguilon in La Liga this season, starting 36 out of his 37 La Liga appearances and playing three times in the Copa del Rey. Across all competitions, Galan got four assists and one goal.
In contrast, Reguilon failed to contribute to any goal when he did get a rare opportunity to play for Atleti.
Reguilon faces uncertain future at Tottenham
What Tottenham do with him next remains to be seen. Ange Postecoglou is about to begin his reign as their new head coach.
Remaining Tottenham left-back Ben Davies faces an uncertain future this summer and might be sold. Ivan Perisic, who usually lined up as a left-wing-back in his debut Spurs season, might also be keen on a departure after Antonio Conte’s exit.
Therefore, there could yet be an opening for another left-back in the Spurs squad. They still have Reguilon under contract until 2025.
But perhaps they would prefer to sell him, so they will have to listen out for other offers now that Atleti have diverted their focus elsewhere.
Do you honestly think a "team Raiola" player is a viable long term solution for our club?Do you honestly think an agent for this kind of profile player would jump at the first club that made an offer? If he’s worth anything then he knows which teams are in the market for a player that fits his client’s profile and starts his own competition. He doesn’t need Romano’s help.
Reminds me of the Dias fiasco. All the numpties saying ‘if we had been quicker’ — as if the agent was unaware of Liverpool’s (long) interest and wouldn’t have approached them immediately to get a better offer.
As importantly, are Dier and Sanchez going to want to go to that buyer?
Do you honestly think a "team Raiola" player is a viable long term solution for our club?
How did that work out for manure with Raiola-client Pogba?
Reminds me of the Outsider. Another absolute wanker'Am I defending the quality of the quoted post?' I'm going to be honest I don't even know what that means. Are you asking me if I agree with the content? That might make sense, we are not at school (and I'm not the teacher)so it's subjective 'quality' wouldn't come into it.
If my statement was any kind of critique, then it would be in regard of the authorial tone. With you it oftentimes seems to come down to that. You can be insightful, intresting and perceptive. But mostly there is a tone: brittle, whiney, and pompous above all. You can be a hard read.
I’m pretty sure we’ve had 15m offers for GLC.
If you sign a contract as a 15m player then you get paid like one and he ain’t doing that. He can engineer a loan move on his current salary to a Spanish team that he wants to play for so he won’t accept a permanent move. We haven’t played hardball enough with this wage thief.

Turkish side Fenerbahce have reportedly made contact with Ivan Perisic’s agent with a view to securing a summer move for the Croatian star.
Perisic was signed on a free transfer by Tottenham last summer from Inter Milan, and it was hoped the veteran could successfully link up with his former manager Antonio Conte in North London.
Ivan Perisic during the Premier League match between Everton FC and Tottenham Hotspur
Despite registering 12 assists in all competitions for Spurs from the left wing-back position (Transfermarkt), there is a sense that things did not quite go to plan for Perisic in his debut season for the Lilywhites.
It has previously been suggested that, with Conte now gone, Perisic would be keen to head back to Inter Milan this summer (Inter Live).
Wherever he ends up, Football.London have claimed Perisic is very likely to be one of the departures from Ange Postecoglou’s squad during this transfer window.
Ivan Perisic approached by Fenerbahce
Now, the latest report from Turkish outlet Takvim has named Fenerbahce as the club making strides in attempting to sign Perisic.
Apparently, Fenerbahce have already “started negotiations” for the move and have been speaking to the 34-year-old’s representatives to sound out his interest in playing in Turkey.
With other clubs keen on acquiring Perisic’s services, it seems Fenerbahce have “gone on the attack” in order to get the deal across the line and beat off the competition.
The report does not state the details of any potential offer for the player, but it certainly sounds like Fenerbahce are serious about their interest. Whether Perisic would accept or not remains to be seen.
Spurs Web Opinion
I would imagine Perisic has his heart set on returning to Italy in some capacity, whether that be with Inter or not. A move to Turkey would definitely be a drop in standard for Perisic and I just don’t know that he’s ready to accept that.
Mate. He’s really fuckin bad. Japhet is twice the playerCould we swap him for dier? Rogers can’t judge a player to save his life
I think you know that the “divorced from reality” comment was referring to the view rather than an accusation of insanity. Tomo himself apologised and stepped back from the comment and you came in to encourage him not to recant.Nah man. I'm not in it. I'm not picking sidesDoom Funk 's post was not the reason I commented, nor your direct response. If it is a comfort I see and I acknowledge the little cabals, this site like all sites has them and they are very much into their own agendas.
I come here to talk about my club the Tottenham Hotspur mens football team, outside a handful of women it's been the love of mine for too many decades to care about these weirdos. It was actually you callingTomo rather unpleasant names then complaining about how you were addressed that prompted me. That was why when you expanded on how you were precieved that I called the assessment tone deaf.
