nice sentiment for a long serving player, but i just can't agree. He's nice guy and professional sure but Dier is just such a bad defender to have at this level, in that he's a liablity. Just like our two old keepers he is now totally out of his depth at this level having lost what little mobility and pace he had to begin with. Along with never really being a centre back with great presence or positioning maybe due to poch playing him as RB for a bit, then a CM.
Further compounded by it seems switching to a back 4 which he was never good at even when he was younger, any appearance has a high probability as being a diabolical like show. It's even worse these days when it seems like half of the clubs in the league all seem to deploy a high press aggressive style.

needs to go off and seek a fresh challenge, probably do well in italy
I don't think he should necessarily stay, but your post has highlighted how many different positions he's been asked to play in, perhaps more than any other player. That can't be easy.

You also make a point about him losing what little pace he had. I believe it's a common misconception he is/was slow. Didn't stats and statements from players say he was one, if not the quickest player in the squad, it's just his style that makes him look slow.

Anyway. I have no real feeling on whether he should stay or go. But the shit being throw his way, and calling him a cunt is way off the mark IMHO.

I'm starting to look forward to next season already
That's because we've had 4 years of total misery on our hands!!

When we start seeing quality defensive signings dropping in, that's when i will slowly start looking forward to anything!

United just paid 55 + 5 for Mount, with a year on his contract, while Bayern trying to play fucking games with us over Kane.

Once again, fuck those fucking krauts, currywurst is not a real curry dickheads.

EDIT: and once again Chavski get away with ridiculous mistakes.

Dier is (was?) obviously quite versatile but a journeyman in each position. We’ve gotten tremendous value for the little that we paid for him but, in retrospect, should have let him go to United for the enormous fee (50m?) mooted at the time. He may have been slowed by an injury but, at this stage in his career, seems past his best and unlikely to regain the form required for a top 4 challenging team. He is far too passive for a CB.
I would prefer that he accept his fate and move on but he is well within his rights to stay put, see out his contract and sign as a free agent next year if he doesn’t care about his playing time which should be reduced to a minimum.

Still need 2 or 3 CB and rid of Dier, Sanch, Tang & Joe...though I think Dier will stay. As long as one of the 2/3 newbies ain't Lenglet, I can live with that. Also, maybe Ange will use Dier as backup at the 6, where he'll cost us less.

I'd like to see another creative player come in, kind of an understudy to Mazza (good shout Bill Madrid Bill Madrid ). That Alex Scott kid ticks a lot of boxes but price a big issue.

A lightning fast attacker also a must. Sonny is getting on, his pace only gonna go one way. Kulu, well...Kulu. Same for Richy. Gil has got legs on him but need another.

Get them INs and somehow manage to dump even 50-75% of our deadwood (Hugo, Dier, Tang, Sanch, Rods, Sess, Reggy, Perisic, Domb, GLC, Moura...), and that'd be a pretty decent window
Saw £17m quoted as a price Bristol would seek (up to £20m+ with performance).

Thats only Winks + £8m. Mates with another big prospect, fan, HG.

Think Spam were the ones suggesting they would bid (£17m), be miffed if they get him.

Think Mount is a very good player (like most Chelsea players he had a terrible season) but thought he would go to Liverpool if he left Chelsea. He's the perfect player for Klopp. He's going to look weird as fuck in a United shirt.
