Transfer Other Team Transfers

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They've done no such thing, what they've actually done is come in too late because they've failed to fully anticipate the squad changes they need and are now left short of ideas of who else to buy for midfield.
My post was somewhat in jest, but…

Man City may well have done, however, Woolwich have had to use a lot more transfer budget on that one player as a result, draining funds for other players. Woolwich, like us, aren’t oil clubs, so adding £10-25 million to a player’s cost is far more significant than it would be to City.

What was Woolwich’s original offer? Did they increase it after City entered the bidding? If they hadn’t, would West Ham have sold him to City instead?

You may be entirely correct above… but beside that point, I’d like to see every purchase our rivals make be made to be as lengthy, protracted and costly as possible. So, long may Man City bid late for all of Woolwich’s, Liverpool’s, Chelsea’s and Man Utd’s targets.

The Express- Aston Villa are leading the race to sign Pau Torres, 26, from Villareal as the Spain defender enters the final year of his contract.

Torres has been with Villareal since academy level, he was also reportedly approached in the 2020-21 campaign by Tottenham, but he snubbed this move to continue Champions League football with Villareal.

not sure if random cheap shot at our expense is neeeded or even logical as we didnt go in for him. Villareal are in europa, villa are in conference so why doesnt he "snub" them

Bit sad this. He's been an absolute monster for Lens having an immense season. Was really hoping he'd stay for their CL campaign next season, that he helped get them.

I find that rather disturbing, he's only 28 but giving up the chance to play in the CL or move to a big club in Europe.

Referring to Partey’s passing, he was critical to how they operate with his elite level passing from deep quickly into forwards, that is the part of Rice’s game that needs to improve a lot.

The biggest adavantage Rice has over Partey is consistency. First half of the season Partey might have been the best DM in the league even above Rodri, last 1/3 of the season he fell off a cliff.
Read this first sentence and thought he was dead.

Oh well. Never mind.

In a footballing sense it’s a bit sad, but he’s not exactly had a lucrative career, so financially this represents a huge opportunity. But the Lens fans love him - he’s the leader of that team in many ways and he’d really found a home there, and was showing the quality that he promised as a kid.

I've been coming across more and more stuff talking about Man Utd's inability to really spend big this summer, they're apparently really hampered by FFP.

Some past summers they've done awful huge money business and the massive naturally accumulated healthy wealth they obtained through their past success and sponsorships has been squandered and as many will tell you the Glazers are nowhere to be seen to add in some extra funds.

He's not exactly on the poverty line though is he, his salary is about one and a half million from a humble club like Lens. If he had any ambition as a footballer he'd wait to see if a big European club would come in for him and take a move to Saudi in a few years.

But he's not earned loads either. He's never had a big contract in his career and his career is over in 3-4 years (or tomorrow if he gets an injury). I don't blame him at all for choosing to secure his future, it's just a bit sad for him and Lens.

That Arse chose to make their interest so public off the bat will likely have little bearing between Rice and his agent........ Agent may well have had a nod that City would enter the fray sooner or later anyway.
It's the tactic that I wanted us to use. Get in early, sell the vision, then have him comparing all other offers to yours.

The filth will have offered him personal terms that would be difficult to blow out of the water, so it would be down to what his personal ambitions are. Does he want a starring role with the filth, with an outside chance of trophies, or effectively a bit part at City, with trophies he might not feel he'd earnt?

Nice position to be in in all honesty.

He’s going to be the backbone of their team, so is 100 million really that excessive?

They’ve also gone and beaten Manchester City to him, a team many of the conservative fans amongst us will perpetually claim we nor any other non state/oil backed team should even dream of competing with.
Apparently we beat City to Maddison as well.

We didn't need to spend £105M to do it either.
