Be sure to come in and admit you're a goose if and when the guy succeeds.
100%And yet another ignorant and baseless comment.
Managers coming from places like Australia or the US are starting from much further back. If anything it is a testament to the guy's ethos and ability to succeed at every step on the journey. Give me a guy like that over someone who has been gifted premium early opportunities and suckholed his way into roles.
The outright snobbery in here amongst many Spurs fans over this appointment is astonishing. Have you all enjoyed the last 4 years under Nuno, Mourinho and Conte? Some of you must have Stockholm Sydrome.
Go to the test at Lords and you’ll be able to pick up champagne corks for freeENIC are launching a new range of Spurs hats. 15 quid but you have to supply your own corks....
Its not just me who is dismissive about the Brisbane lion roar whatever or tokyo something wherever he managed. The reason top clubs in europe didnt employ him is not because of my personal views. The chairmen of the top clubs havent employed him either. Maybe they are dumb in employing the guardiolas and the pochetinos or maybe the opposite is true and starting out in a real league when he's almost 60 isnt as exciting as you'd think.
You're missing the point so let me put it another way: If there was a Guardiola or Pochettino managing in Australia or Japan, top clubs in Europe wouldn't have employed them either because like Ange they either wouldn't have been noticed or their achievements would have been dismissed. It has nothing to do with ability and everything to do with opportunity.
Maddison on what Ange Postecoglou told him:
“Whether you come or not, you’re going to see a completely different Spurs team under me.”
I know this is going to end in tears eventually, however, for now (yet again) I am 100% in.![]()
Hahaha what crazy logic. So if he’s not good enough for them to want to sack Pep and replace him then he can’t be much good? That’ll do me. They don’t employ average managers for any level within their group, “oh we just need a 5/10 manager because it’s the J League”So they thought he was good for that level. If they try to get him for City, then that would be different.
If he fails will you do the same but in reverse, or disappear off the forum entirely?
Rhetorical question btw, I know the answer already.
So 2 disagrees on supporting our new managerHonestly, nobody cares what you have to say.
The majority of us will support Ange and are looking forward to seeing what he can do.
You are missing my point too. If someone is actually that great and was the real deal+serial winner, they would have been given the opportunity before the age 58. You have only just signed up to the forum, so Im guessing you are an Ange fan rather than a spurs fan,. But one thing I can agree with you on is that we both hope he succeeds (even if I dont agree that his 'achievements' in the little leagues mean anything)
The disagree was for his little bitchy "nobody cares what you say" , when he was handing out disagrees and responding to posts not addressed to him. He obviously cared, a lot! And some of my posts on this topic got a lot of responses/ counter arguments. Obviously a lot of people cared and gave their own opinions on it.
I've read all these arguments before mate, and even though they havent changed my mind, I wont argue against them as we would be going circles over and over again. I really hope he turns out to be as good as the australians think he is.I also recently signed up on the forum. Started following Spurs in 1981 and have been a paying Spurs member for well over a decade now. So, you'd do well to stop making assumptions about certain fans as you have above. Only here because we are Aussies? You should be embarrassed by making that comment. I have posted on a few other Spurs forums over the years. Do we specifically have to have posted here to be valid fans?
Anyway, managers from countries like Australia don't get noticed precisely because they are from places like Australia. Nobody looks down here. Why would they? We don't have the pedigree. Postecoglou has broken through a glass ceiling to get to where he is and has had to clear more hurdles than managers born in so called "football" countries. Your position is outrightly dismissive of the barriers that stand in a budding manager's way coming from non-traditional footballing countries like mine.
In no way does Postecoglou's age diminish his managerial ability. He's giving every other manager at least a decade's head start in terms of where he has come from and where he has landed. What he has done is monumental. It is unprecedented and should therefore give Spurs fans the confidence that he may just have some idea of what he is doing.
Ange hasn’t done it at this level. He’s been great in lesser leagues which is promising but he’s unproved at the highest level. How will he do at Spurs? No one knows.
But all Spurs supporters are rooting for him presumably - We will find out SOON ENUF if his success in Oz, Japan and Scotland translate to the Premier League - so stop the bickering just for now and simply support the team until we have some evidence one way or another.
Yes they have, all the doubters on here and everywhere else rely on spreadsheet logic only - they read the club salaries and spending as you would a racing formbook - "Celtic spend x amount to win against farmers league that could only spend y amount, won't work here because teams spend 10x amount - its levels above, like group 1 vs pony races - it won't translate" and on and on.The thing that gets me is that not a single doubter has given any logical reason as to why his methods and philosophy couldn't translate to Premier League football.
Doesn't matter what he's won elsewhere ultimately. It's how he's managed to build a squad, had them all singing from the same sheet and succeeding by playing great football.
Anyone can become a coach, that's the easy part. You or me can go and get our coaching badges if we wanted to. It's about the man. What he represents. How he conducts himself and how he gets that across to the team that makes Ange who he is. Not his honours list.
It is possible that Ange's methods and philosophy may work out, but no one knows for sure. Celtic got 2 points out of 18 in the CL . So the level of players they had obviously mattered and no amount of other worldly methods and philosophies helped them. The thing that gets me is that not a single doubter has given any logical reason as to why his methods and philosophy couldn't translate to Premier League football.

So the forum recently has had a few Oz additions, which Im sureAdmin is pleased with, only to be belted by some here who couldn't grasp any inkling of positivity.
Pathetic and disappointing.
Everyone who has followed Ange through his journey will tell you one thing that's a cert. He says what he means, and he means what he says. He will ruffle some feathers, and we will go through some crap. Ultimately, if backed, I am sure we will enjoy this ride.
Listen to Maddison. Ange did not plead for him join. It;'s not his fucking DNA.
Just give the man a fair go.
