My preference would be to keep HOJ for one more year (i'll explain further below why) BUT I 100% understand the viewpoint from an opportunity and financial vantage point, him being 27, still 2 years left so we have negotiating leverage and the reported numerous clubs of calibre that having a real interest in him.
HOJ money circa £30M-£35M (min - max) is very fair and reasonable and that money in essence could help us massively in addressing half a decades massive glaring weakness flaw weve has aka the
DEF CB area. HOJ money to allow us to effectively purchase our 2 chief CB priorities Tapsoba and VDV, money ostensibly being the salient factor to achieve this. - Personally im all for Hoj's fee to help address our CB gaping issue.
However, I feel we would need to address HOJ's departure with another player of Quality this window.
- Bentancur is still recovering from cruciate knee ligament injury, not the easiest to get back to your best again, so many players never fully get back to their best after it,
he does of course however it could be end of SEPT to NOV we see him fully back
- BISSOUMA and SARR will be off to AFCON leaving us to the bare bare minimum in a crucial month of JAN, also extra risk of one of them being injured (just pointing out all eventualities )
- Skipp i love being a spurs boy thru & thru but is not at the required standard, still too many silly mistakes and naivety to be able to rely on
This leave all leaves us bare to the bone in terms of strong tackling defensive capable players, Maddison is full on attacking, Nbombelly well ermm hmmm he aint running or capable of or providing that defensive cover with the
energy,
zeal, stamina and
tenacity required (many might argue but i just dont see it personally). That leaves GLC which we all know is actively being moved on again not his forte anyway.
So a HOJ replacement not essential before we leave on tour for pre-season but by the end of the summer window would be a necessity, which would likely be eased by selling a couple atleast of the vast number of dead weight we so badly need to move on from the club.
