I agree that we overperformed massively compared to our resources but you have committed the classic mistake of people in this thread… you attribute bad things on the pitch to ENIC but good things on the pitch to other things (manager, luck etc).
That’s a fundamentally dishonest position.
The « game changer » has allowed us to spend more. Have you not seen that?
We need to spend more wisely and MOST OF ALL need to hire attacking managers. I think we’re moving in the right direction on that front but the past 5 years have been a disappointment that I hold levy responsible for. Mourinho, Nuno and Conte were mistakes.
Before that our performance on the pitch was a huge success under ENIC - for 18 years.
Not a criticism, just pointing out that it will absolutely never happen again.
Leicester winning the title doesn't mean Forest somehow will next year. Black swan events don't strike twice.
Poch worked a miracle. Levy personally and comprehensively strangled and destroyed it. A pity.

The Great 'game changer' has seen us continue to win nothing (everybody is spending more, Villa and West Ham are similar in spending to us without our stadium). It stopped us from winning in the 20 years previous as we were close but as lowest net spenders never got over the line at crucial points with purse strings firmly closed. And now we have qualified 1 out of 4 times for CL since it opened. At the very least Levy is failing massively in the footballing side even if your only point was we are spending more now and ignoring everything else...

Ok let me make sure you feel I’m responding to all your points. That’s important if we’re going to have a good discussion.
First, « game changer » is Twitter speak. The objective reality is that the stadium has allowed us to significantly increase our revenue and therefore increase our spending.
Second, our spending for a long time was constrained by the investment in the stadium. ENIC are not taking money out of the club. Every penny is reinvested. Now that we do not have to spend on stadium costs we have THAT money plus the extra revenue to spend on the squad. We have in fact seen that money spent which is good news.
Third, our revenue for all of ENIC’s ownership has been 5th or 6th and a long way behind the top 4/5. Our expected performance given our resources has been 5/6 for the entirety of their reign. We have beaten that most seasons. So regardless of our net spend, we have used our resources more effectively than our direct rivals.
Finally, as I have already stated, I hold levy accountable for the terrible managerial appointments and ensuing poor league performance in the past 4/5 years. Are you able to acknowledge what an amazing job they did on the pitch for 18 years before that?
Correct. When we were 5th we were a long way behind 4th. When Manchester City entered the scene we were 6th and a long way behind 5th.
I think you could have figured that out for yourself if you thought properly instead of trying to hit gotchas.

We've finished ahead of Woolwich in revenue in every season since 2018/19.
1. Game changer was a term Levy used himself
2. Nobody is arguing other than Levys rewarding salary they are taking, but everything is about fattening their cow rather than any genuine ambition.
3. Since stadium we have been on a downward trajectory, their use of resources since the game changer have been a failure.
4. My view is they have done far from an amazing job in 18 years prior, they have failed to deliver trophies, they have failed to back countless managers even when 1 or 2 signings of intent may have made the difference. They have promised great things for the future only to again fail to deliver. I acknowledge the stadium looks great, that’s it. The PL has advanced significantly in those 20 years and they will benefit greatly from that financially, they will benefit greatly from the endless property and entertainment ventures… we’ll still be waiting and hearing excuses for the next 20 years from people like your condescending self…
Super club ticket pricing
Fattening the cow also helps the FC but it’s clearly not their primary objective. Revenue first, FC second. They are linked but the balance is wrong. Don’t see how anyone can argue otherwise

It’s not impossible that we’ve caught United last season, which would have been unimaginable a decade ago.
Forgiving Levy’s footballing failures so often requires basically just lying about what a money spinner he’s turned Spurs into, which was his entire mission from the day ENIC bought the club.
