Bayern are the ones in control here.
Kanes the one in control. Whatever he does now he wins. Bayern could easily miss out if they dont get him now as i dont see him going there when he's out of contract.

We've lost control of the situation completely though. Our plan seems to be we show enough improvement over the season for him to want to stay but without really having the intent on incomings to try and make that happen. As ever just plodding along hoping something happens. The same approach we had with Eriksen.

It's a stupid naive plan which is going to end badly.

Totally agree. Imo once they hit £85m i'd sell. I just cant see the point in starting a rebuild, hopefully showing some improvement to have to start again next summer when Kane walks for nothing and also the last chance to get anything for Son, who'll be 32 by then. I'd rip the plaster off however painful rather than this drag on all season. Ange will get asked about it after every game.

This.
The only problem Kane has by “being in control” is that he is being advised by his village idiot of a brother.
His best bet imo (& I would hate this scenario to play out) is to have one last season with Spurs, and have his pick of clubs next June.
He can stay in the PL and smash Shearer’s record at a club that he believes is serious about winning things.
I don’t care whether City have that freak up front, they would be sniffing round to sign Kane on a free.
Then there’s huge offers likely from the usual suspects.
He could even like what he sees here and sign a new contract?
I don’t see why he would want the prestige of winning the league in Germany in a one horse race.
Bayern will still be way behind Real & City in Champions League.
Signing for them makes so little sense, Charlie.
They don’t even offer the mega wages of some of the absolute top guns of Europe.

Not a criticism, just pointing out that it will absolutely never happen again.

Leicester winning the title doesn't mean Forest somehow will next year. Black swan events don't strike twice.

Poch worked a miracle. Levy personally and comprehensively strangled and destroyed it. A pity.

The outlook doesn't change either way. We either do business like the top clubs or watch them continue to sail safely away from us permanently..

Seems as I haven't actually seen anyone bring this up....

Do you not feel that the huge increase in our wage structure while Poch was in charge assisted in keeping all but one of our best players at the club?

I personally think the wages we pay are massively overlooked and whilst no one can deny City, Chelsea, Man U and Liverpool can still typically blow us out of the water with wages, we certainly narrowed that gap.

Had we not have done you wouldn't have seen any Poch miracles.

I do agree but i also think this summer is needed to sort out the defence and get suited to Ange's football, having someone of the calibre of kane could help the adjustment go a bit smoother as he is such a consistent scorer.

His goals in the meantime could help us attain a respectable position until the team is fully in line with Anges way of playing

We hold the cards because if Bayern don't pay what we want, and Kane doesn't sign a new contract, do you think Bayern will still be in the conversation next year? Hell no.
He can pick where he goes. Even teams that may not feel like they need him now will take him on a "free"
City, United, Real, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle, they'll all be circling for Kane next summer if he stays and doesn't sign a new contract.

Levy knows that. And he will be saying to Bayern "this is your only chance to get him, so cough up"

Wouldn’t say all the cards but this is not a one sided negotiation where we should cave

Hoeness on Levy…

Hoeness admitted discussions with Levy, renowned as a tough negotiator, had not been straightforward. “Levy is clever, he doesn’t name a number,” he said. “First we have to get him to name a number. Of course he plays for time. I think he’s a savvy, super professional, I appreciate him a lot.” But Hoeness noted there was plenty of negotiating experience on Bayern’s side too.

Why has old man Levy gone away on the Australia tour?

All the negotiations for players will be on European time.

As much as we argue, no transfer is getting the final green light without him so it’s inevi going to disrupt it.

His decision making is getting more and more fuddled each year that passes.

Why is nobody asking him about the stadium naming rights?
Remember that interview when he said there was more exciting things to come that he couldn’t talk about?
Nothing happened with that either.

Not taking the piss but he’s had a lot of stress getting the stadium finished and everything with the club, maybe it’s time to get his faculties properly tested.

Why? He cost nothing and we’ve hardly spent anywhere near our peers and revenue is booming. Stop drinking the ENIC Kool Aid
He cost nothing but that doesn't mean we should give him away for nothing.
Huh? I thought you knew Levy by now, revenue is booming doesn't mean he will go and spend to get the quality we need.

Honestly think he has early Alzheimer’s, lost all touch of reality. He has commercial staff to pull basic and tried / tested levers that increase infrastructure value etc but hes all over the football side and it’s a helicopter crash.

Hold up, you told me Paratici was the one negotiation these deals?

No offence but the entire contents of that post tells me how out of touch you really are about our inner workings and how negotiations generally work...

Would definitely be worth checking if he’s still up to working at this level.

Even if he was penny pinching in the past, at least it was organised. Even that semblance of organised thought seems to have gone.

I quite agree.

According to the apples-to-apples comprehensive figures compiled by Deloitte, over the past five seasons among the 20 richest clubs in Europe, so 100 team-seasons, only four times did a club spend less than half their turnover on wages.

All four were Tottenham.

Fuck off. He eats blueberries for breakfast every morning and salmon for dinner. He’s going to live until at least 300 in fine health.
