The Porro chat makes me laugh.

I saw fans begging Levy on here to sign him in January, and losing their shit when it nearly fell through. Now they're acting like it was a mistake. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

It's a blessing TFC aren't in charge of the clubs transfers.

The new CB will receive the same treatment if he doesn’t hit the ground running.

Yes. If there's a release fee clause in Phillips' contract, then we meet that amount & we can proceed with the medical. Surely the figure, & payment terms (eg lump sum or schedules), is there in black & white.

If there isn't such a clause, then we need to agree a fee with Blackburn before any medical can take place.

The new Blackburn ownership situation does have shades of Villa being taken over & our Grealish deal being scuppered. But that did not involve a release fee clause, with Grealish's £100m clause being inserted into his bumper new Villa contract post-takeover.

Nothing (possibly Maddison-signing apart) ever seens easy for us. Sure this gets done though.

Of course knowing us, in 3 year's year's year's time it will be a return to Blackburn on loan for a bag of popcorn..

Again, I reiterate:

It was dumb having 1 CF when it was Kane, ignorant when that player is Richie.

Not saying we have to go spend £80M on a CF.

Not saying Richarlison doesn't get a run of games at CF - simply that he doesn't have to play 45ish games next season.

I find it really stupid to answer the need for depth at CF by moving a player who won the golden boot 14 months ago at LW away from LW.

Strengthen the weakness, don't create a 2nd weakness. Sign another striker to play up front, let Son do what he's shown he can do great in the past.
It was clear last season that Son at LW is a weakness.

Any excuse for the....

We really didn't need to see a picture of you when agreeing with posters who suit your narrative, but thanks for sharing anyway.

Agreed.

Blackburn announced a new 'sponsorship' deal with Venkys (owners0 within hours of the first reports of Phillips coming to Spurs.

Given the reports that the medical was carried out (to which Blackburn must have consented) the fact that they were gifted more money just after the transfer became public makes me wonder if Blackburn decided to move the goalposts on price, possibly with a view to get an auction going with other clubs involved. All conjecture but I do smell a rat
Saw someone mention he failed the medical, so perhaps an issue means we’re renegotiating.

Hopefully just a glitch.

FFS Bayern, just put a decent bid in a let's get it over with.

Actually quote. Never said “can’t be relaxed…”

Ange Postecoglou has conceded that he is “not relaxed” about the unresolved question of Harry Kane’s future and warned that Tottenham Hotspur cannot allow the uncertainty over Harry Kane to drag on much longer:

"Fair to say I am not relaxed about it! It’s not something you go: ‘Ah, well, you know if it does or doesn’t happen!’ I mean it’s a very important part of this football club, not just the team, but the football club.”

”He is such a massive figure, and as I have said already, whilst my focus isn't on it on a daily basis because I’ve got other things I need to do, I know that every time I am talking to you guys, or whenever Harry is going to talk, that’s the first question you are going to get.

So, you’ve got to deal with it, and I think, for everyone concerned, we don’t want to be doing it for too long. I don’t think that is good for anyone. I don’t think it is good for Harry, I don’t think it is good for the club, because as laser focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way.”

But the flip side of that is I don't want to put a deadline on it, because that adds even more pressure. You want these things to happen for the right reasons. The reality of it is he’s still a contracted player at our football club, so that’s the way I see him.”

"It’s not like his contract is ending on the 12th [of August] and he’s got to make a decision, he’s got another year. So from that part, I am not relaxed but I am not putting pressure on him or anyone else at the football club, saying ‘well we need to do this’. But I don’t think deep down any of us want it to go on for too long."

I wonder whether our new manager wanted to form his own view on the current playing staff, meaning he took every player on our books bar the injured and lloris?

as lloris' position stands, we obviously needed a keeper of which we've signed one (who was, according to the manager; 'the one he wanted')

maybe our new manager looks at our current playing staff as having potential or, maybe after his evaluation, he will report back to the club saying we need to sign x, y and z

In Fabrizio's defence I don't think his paraphrasing was egregious, he basically got the gist of it.
