You know UTD's propaganda machine is good when there are real people that think Martinez was a good buy for 57m...

Amazing how easily English football fans can be persuaded to overrate pointy shouty people if they are aggressive.

Think they just missed him off but adding a 19yr old bought for £8m is hardly a game changer to the point the list makes. Most striking thing is all the clubs listed have bought rubbish but the others, apart from maybe Man U have moved them on and kept working until they get some good ones. We still have Sanchez after 6 years and Rodon after 3.

The most annoying thing about Sanchez is that we actually did go all out to bring him in. Paid, in hindsight, what was a ridiculous fee for him.

Surely at the time he would have been in the top 10/15 of most expensive premier league CBs?

More poor scouting really. He has the attributes to be a decent defender but somehow isnt but its his ability with the ball or lack of that should have been the red flag. Mistakes happen and you cant get every player right, its keeping them for 6 seasons thats the problem.

It's not necessarily the lack of numbers of CBs that Spurs signed in that period that is of concern: IF they had gotten the right CB's in, then the few incoming CB would not have been a problem.
For example, the year (2017) that Spurs paid £42m for Sanchez, Inter paid €20m for Skriniar. And the year Spurs paid £11m for Rodon, Kim Min-jae could have been a Spurs player for around £3m...

I still think we should look at the Rice transfer.
He had a year left on his contract, he's a defensive midfielder, he went for £105m!

Yes i know he's much younger than Harry, but Harry is in his prime, and one of the best strikes in the world.
I would go for £120m for Harry

If we were prepared to sell to an English club we would get 120 mill easily. Chelsea would pay it without hesitation. But Levy won't sell to a PL club

I would argue that Sanchez and Ndombele are the only two examples of when ENIC and Levy actually pulled out all the stops to get a player, beating off competition for them etc.
