It’s not just the spending though. It’s the way in which they’ve spent their money in comparison to ours.

And I’m not just talking about how poor our scouting/recruitment has been etc. I’m talking about how Woolwich have backed Arteta to the hilt with top quality players in key positions on the football pitch.
Consistent 30,40,60, 100(!) million pound players over the last few years that have bolstered their team and squad to make them challengers.

They finished second last season and they have gone out and signed a 60 million attacker, a 100 million midfielder and a 40 million defender, and are looking at potentially signing a 40 million goalkeeper. That is backing and ambition that our owners have never shown and will never show.

And despite that moron that you replied to trying to spin it that any Spurs fan who raises this point is “praising Woolwich to put down Spurs” or any such nonsense, it couldn’t be further than the truth. It sickens me to my core that Woolwich have got it together so well and are now operating on a totally different level to us for no other reason that their owners have woken up and realised they could be on to something, and it should be pointed out at every opportunity that this is the case.
There is absolutely no reason that if Woolwich can compete at the top end of the market we can’t too.
Just wait till they do a Leeds though

It's slightly more pallitable to compare us to Liverpool....

They lost the 2018 CL FINAL, then regrouped, strengthening in key areas, came back stronger and won the CL the following season... THAT'S the way to build on narrowly missing out.

WE were effectively in Liverpool's position in 2019, having lost that CL FINAL.... yet we failed to build on our near miss, and if anything, went backwards!

That just doesn't happen if you have true ambition and a win at all costs mentality!

It fucking hurts to realise the reality....

Best teams always build from the back, look at how much money City have spent on defenders under Pep.

To expect us to have to score at least 2 or maybe 3 goals per game in order to get anything out of it, is only going to end in disaster. Heck if Kane leaves and isn't replaced we might struggle to get one per game!

It's the usual shit from the decision makers at our club, I'm sure Ange is fuming behind the scenes.
City have been playing a back four of four centre backs on occasion, they have more centre backs in their starting XI than we have in our entire squad.

They’ll always be a few good signings but the vast majority of signings under Levy & ENIC have been duds. 6 of the players you’ve listed saw what direction we were going in & moved onto bigger & better things
Of course we have made some great signings. Not all of them were a result of going big though. That's the point..

It was the inclusion of Danny Rose in the list that completely baffled me.

100%.

I think an even better comparison however, it could be argued, was when we finished second in 16/17. Our team was close to their peak, all we needed was a little push in one or two key areas.

What transpired? We didn’t make one signing, not ONE, that strengthened our first team. Absolutely staggering looking back on it now.
Compare that to how Woolwich have reacted this summer to finishing second.

Chalk and cheese stuff, and it sickens me to the core.

If there's anything moronic going on; it's just the simple fact that a basic and factual contradiction can't be made without it spiraling into being cast as something entirely different.

I've spun NOTHING. NOTHING.

Woolwich have spent more than us so far this summer. Also fact; one which has not been denied.

People making false claims (intentionally or otherwise) about their prior spending deserve to be set straight; whatever their motivation.

If that offends you and leaves you needing to result to name-calling; then that's your own fucking issue.

I seem to remember we were after Wijnaldum initially.

Isco maybe? As I've mentioned before, he's from Benalmádena, where my in-laws have a place. I had this fantasy of meeting him on the seafront, going for a beer and becoming best buddies.

I was coming back from there on deadline day, resigned to our failure to get Isco and waving farewell to my dream of a great new friendship, when the Sissoko news broke. Underwhelmed doesn't start to describe it.

Both sound about right to me.

I've also remembered this was the summer we "tried" and failed to get sadio mane over a wage dispute despite poch having a prior relationship with him at Southampton

Imagine an attack of son, kane and mane!!

I think the "we tried but failed" should be the new club motto, replacing the old motto on the club shirts etc.
It seems very fitting, unlike some of the shirts 😁

Vast majority sounds like hyperbolic revisionism.

we have signed a number of duds, we also signed some incredible players whos names you have sung and waxed lyrical about and given you the best Spurs team you would have seen for years upon years, silverware aside.

Why must people change facts and history because they are frustrated?

Tapsoba, who was hailed as "dangerous", could set Spurs back £42.5m, something which has been perceived as one of the reasons why the deal has struggled to advance quickly.

However, despite a lack of recent updates in the media, transfer expert Romano insists that a deal is still "absolutely on" and that the Lilywhites are "still working" on making the transfer happen this window.

FFS just pay the fee.
