X2 8’s in Ange system. Needs 4/5 to rotate and keep them fresh.

Biss looks like he’s starting as a 6.

8’s:
Maddison
GLC
Sarr
…..

Until Bentancur gets back, that last spot is open.

Maybe Tanguy sticks around? Maybe he doesn’t. If he didn’t, there are minutes for Scott

We're both juggling a lot of "IFs" here......

Like I said; I just don't trust us not to 'starve' young players atm...... Hopefully Ange will change that.

I think you can add a couple of degrees of smartness to a Scott transfer by way of him being HG and experienced in English football, so helps us with a long term issue and minimises the chance he doesn;t adapt.

And the fact that he's a Spurs fan helps too, might seem superficial but it's nice to have players in the squad that the fans feel some connection to, I'm not proclaiming us all to be massive xenophobes, obviously we can develop that kind of connection to players from abroad as well, but it would just come a bit quicker with a young lad who's also a fan...

That said, if he misplaces a pass then off with his fucking head the useless fraud...

Utter nonsense 🤣

The only thing frighteningly bad is your footballing opinions.
everything that poster said was based on stats. Granted some might not pay any significant importance on stats but labelling it "utter nonsense" is pretty damn pathetic.

I haven't seen either player enough to comment (and tbh I want us to sign VDV because he appears to be high on our list of targets) but the previous poster is entitled to his opinion.

Quit trying to score petty points on a football forum.

To sum it up both have rather glaring deficiencies that do not complement the side around them well. And more than anything, deficiencies such are these limits the upside of a prospect.

In Veiga, his lack of passing and reliance on pace, reactivity, luck and overperforming Goals/Assists reminds me so much of Paulinho/Dele… if they aren’t scoring they’re basically doing fuck all… and in a side with Son and Richarlison, we can’t afford two players like that in our attack.

In Van de Ven, his complete lack of aggression and shocking aerial ability doesn’t solve problems for us. Sure he can run over 30 yards but can he step into a tackle? Can he command a physical striker or take charge aerially us on set pieces? The videos I’ve posted show that he cannot. His aerial ability is so frighteningly bad.
I don't agree with you on either. Veiga doesn't pass a lot, but when he does he often makes important passes, being high on key passes, through balls, and expected assists. He's overpreforming on goals, but his expected goals are already very high for a CM, particularly one in such a weak side. I really doubt we'll get him now that we're keeping Lo Celso, I haven't heard any links for a while, I'd really like him personally.

VDV is passive, but that's not necessarily a bad combination with Romero. He has bad aerial ability but that can be taught, particularly to an explosive 6'4 defender.

You’re wrong with examples.
Again, I’m bringing real video examples and statistical based analyses of players with legitimate backing in reality. They are still good players but I have questions about their upside and view both as fitting an archetype that I deem unsatisfactory to challenge City, Scum, United etc consistently.

I would note that everything I’ve said is backed up by real facts and examples.

You’re just blindly disagreeing with me and not even giving reasons why. you’re not adding anything to the discussion.

Truly bizarre.

Opinions, fella. Not facts.

Anyway I wouldn’t worry about it coz we won’t be signing VDV. Now THATS a fact.

Lenglet on a free on deadline day.

It's a speculation; but it's a reasonable one... Otherwise, why do such players end up at dismal clubs like WH & CPalace? Why are they not ending up at LIverpool, Arse or similar instead?

.......It's not like we're not prepared to pull the tigger on players of this ilk: Spence, Gil, Udogie, Sarr.... And Possibly that young Blackburn lad.
Because those are the only ones that bid??

It's a reasonable theory, but nothing more, that it is so often spoken about as fact is what I'm taking issue with.

There were no stories whatsoever that suggest we ever bid on any of those players mentioned and lost out to CP or WH, just rumours of our interest.

Could have signed both Eze and Olise for the price of a Steven Bergwijn, if we tried and they turned us down then fair enough, if we didn't try then it's poor decision making from somebody at the club, and our business over the last few years lends a good deal of weight to this theory.

Excellent post.

Van de Ven and Veiga would be enough for me to know that whoever we have in charge of transfer has no fucking clue what they’re doing. Those two would make me lose whatever remaining confidence I still have in the project and our ceiling as a team under Ange.
Vdv would be a good signing imo, Veiga I'd not be too happy with.

We have been doing it for years now....... KWP, Edwards, Onomah..... Even GKN, Foyth, Njie......Probably others from the academy I've forgot too.

It's only that nice 2012-2014 academy crop of Andros, Mason, Carrol, Winks, Kane etc. that really bucks the trend.

I guess for me Scott is a big enough talent to force his way into the team like Dele did.

If he’s good enough, and imo he is, I don’t really care if he forces GLC or Tanguy out the rotation

Ditto.... The pair of them ought to be ashamed if that were to have happened too.

We couldn't be farther form my point here though.

The videos show that he didn't in those videos.

That's all they show.

VDV has 1 senior season of top level football. It's very normal that he would be expected to improve these things.

Same with aerial stuff.

He's 6ft 4 and athletic. Just needs time to improve.

The only issue with VDV is expecting him to be ready now and be our only CB signing of the summer

I disagree.

Kane is World Class, he's suited to play in any system because he's not just an immense talent, he's extremely smart, with regards to Football.

Forgive me if I've read you wrong, but I get the impression you think he's not suited to the system because he's not the type to run around like a lunatic pressing and tackling. AP doesn't expect that of his forwards, he expects then to squeeze the space, cut down passing lanes, and be on the front foot when a mistake has been made. It's up to the midfield to win the ball back primarily, and for the forwards to then be ready to capitalise.

He's done all this already under Poch, he's not having to learn something he hasn't done successfully previously.
No I don’t think he’s suited to it because I don’t think he wants to be a six yard box striker that is needed in our system. If he would sacrifice his game to just be in around the 6 yard box because you will see us score many many goals from cut backs in and around the 6 yard box to penalty spot area then fair enough. I’m pretty sure he wants to be involved in the build up more but we need that striker in there and making runs off the shoulder of defenders. Kane knows the game inside out but I don’t want him thinking he can do what he wants and still play. Fuck that, the club does not revolve around him now. He won’t sign an extension so he has to go now for the good of the club.
Kane is a magnificent player and the most natural goalscorer I’ve seen with both feet and his head but it has to end at some point. Now is the time for this to happen because if it doesn’t get resolved there will be the Harry Kane cloud hanging over this club till next summer which is detrimental to us moving forward.
It’s only my opinion but it’s time to move on
