Thanks, that's what I thought. I don't give a fuck where the money goes. Just because there's a release clause doesn't mean a club won't lose out to a club paying more (not necessarily the opposite, either).

So, in short, if someone else comes in, we're probably not getting him.
???

Likewise, just because another club may come in, doesn't mean we won't get him.

A club can offer whatever they want to Blackburn, Blackburn have no say in whether the player chooses us or anyone else.

Another club can offer the player more money, and that might sway him, but that's nothing to do with us only paying a £2m fee...

the kidna thing that gives Levy a real thrill, getting one over on clubs finacially. though it looks to have worked this time it unfortunately more often results in failure for us

Its Blackburn (or Venky's the owners) trying to be clever that means :
1) Deal is delayed
2) Blackburn get less money.

Spurs had no option other than sit it out - we had agreed to pay more but Blackburn shot themselves in the foot it appears, so we pay the contractual sum. Nothing to do with Levy

Yes, they offer the 2m and then negotiate with his agent, the club does not get more than 2m.
Yeah, I don't care who gets the money I'm not sure of the process that occurs when two clubs are interested. If Spurs and chavs both go in for him, it surely has to be a money-based decision on where he ends up. Either due to lump sum to player, player wages, agents fees etc. My point being that just because there is a release clause on friday that we are willing to meet, doesn't mean we'll get him.

It doesn't matter to them whether we'll get him or not, they still lost here.

Not sure what you're confused about. Aren't we agreeing? Oh, maybe that's why you're confused.

My last comment was sarcasm, i.e. we don't tend to out-bid other clubs.

The player gets to decide if multiple clubs meet the release clause. (In reality, the player gets to decide on almost every transfer.) The difference with the release clause is the selling club gets zero say.

There is absolutely zero reason a club will ever pay more than the release clause.

I think he had a stint of playing as a wing back for Inter Milan, but he didn't seem to be very good at it in for us.Maybe he's a bit old for all the running that postions requires. You're right he has looked good playing as a left winger in the front three for the pre-season matches. I think Ange will usually start with Son there unless Kane leaves he might place Son in the CF position.

He was Conte's preferred left wing back at Inter, certainly in Conte's last season at Inter which is why he was recruited to Spurs.

Earlier in his career Perisic had been playing as a winger, and still does for Croatia

I feel like maybe I'm living in a parallel universe where agents are honest, selfless and just.

In the words of Ice-T: "But shit ain't like that."

Surely if two clubs go head to head, one will grease the palms of these scumbags and get the nod? All other things being equal, I mean? i.e. player doesn't care about either club and both agreed same wages.

If it's prohibited by law, then great, that's actually a fucking smart law. I hope it exists!

Our defence is a liability. We needed class defenders. We signed Madison. He's decent. We needed defenders, bloody good defenders above all else.

We also needed a GK as Lloris was clearly losing it - so we bought a very highly rated one

No creativity in midfield - so we had to buy and bought best available, Maddison

Agree we need CB's, but do NOT agree defenders above these two - possibly equal - but not signing either of Maddison or Vicario to wait until CB's signed would have been cutting off nose to spite face.

Sure they can grease the palms of the player or agent but they’ll never pay more than the release clause to the selling club.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is keen on signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea this summer, according to Football Transfers (h/t Wales Online).

Spurs have been linked with a surprise move for the 30-year-old. The Australian gaffer has ‘personally’ asked for the Belgium international to be signed in the ongoing transfer window.
