Then why are people wanting Kane gone for money we're reluctant to spend?

Do people think we'll show a lack of ambition by selling Kane. Only to magically show it once he's gone?

Lol

Ok, you want Kane to stay. What do you think the team can realistically achieve next season. The current squad, minus the players Ange wants out and with the additions of VdV, maybe Tosin or someone with a similar price, one more midfielder to replace Hojberg, and Kane for one more year?

Best case scenario

Carabao or league cup

Have to say - I would much rather see us with Kane than without next season.
Anyone who thinks we are better off without him is naive. And anyone that thinks any manager wouldn't change their system to accommodate a generational talent like Kane is just as naive.
I don't know how many times people have to say it. Selling Kane isn't about this season. It's about not losing a £100M asset for free to a direct competitor next season.

The signs are already good, they put up a strong showing vs a team that won a treble on Sunday.

They got a lucky break in the 18th minute of extra time and won on pens.

They've also been pretty underwhelming during the rest of their pre-season.

If genuinely you rate Rice as a £100m player then so be it (I don't); but seriously, do we have to go through another season of Spurs fans fluffing them up?

1. It's naive to turn down £100m now if (and if is the key here) Harry has said he won't renew. If he is sitting on the fence and has said if we start the season well he may sign then that's a gamble we may be willing to take. Big gamble though.
2. Why change a system Ange likes and has used successfully before for a single season to accommodate that one single player around whom this massive uncertainty lies? Say he does change it...Kane leaves in 12 months on a free and then we have to re-adapt to the other system?

I just don't like the uncertainty and it is a distraction. I thought Ange was a fresh start and it feels increasingly like it can't fully be.

Don't get me wrong I love Harry and agree he is a generational talent, but we are making ourselves the Harry Kane team when we more than likely won't have him in a year. Just feels wrong.

It doesn't matter what I think.

It matter what Ange, Kane and the rest of the team believe they can achieve. All we can do as fans of this club is want to see our best players PLAY for Spurs and do well.

I like to think with one game a week, we've already got an advantage on some teams and I think we will take the cups seriously.

Ange has to throw him in straight away vs Brentford right?

It's risky to play him without a lot of time with the squad, but i think it's riskier not to.

As long as he's on the books there's absolutely no reason not to give him a run out at some point vs Barca....... He then has the rest of the week to train with the team.

Eh, if he done his medical today, we have a match tomorrow and then only two real days of training before Saturday’s opener at Brentford.

I feel like that’s not enough.

I guess it’s also down to how much you value the 30 goals Harry can provide - it could mean the difference between Ange’s first season being a success or a disaster.

Another 12 months also allows more planning time and potential to bed in/assess the young striker coming in. If Velix is mustard then him and Richi may mean there’s no need to spend big on another striker.

All supposition as none of us know what the board are thinking.

I prefer to remain objective to their achievements, same with any other club.

It just happens that our biggest rivals have a similar profile to ours, so comparisons are inevitable.

I hope last year was an anomaly for them and I'm wrong. But this club could learn from some of the steps they're taking. Time will tell.

Well if it's up to Kane then all he has to do is tell Levy that he is staying and he refuses to move to Bayern this summer. In that way at least Ange and the club can plan ahead for next season with him still at the club
