Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I knew Levy was stupid. I didn't know he was stupid enough to actually sell our greatest ever player.

Feel sorry for Postecoglu more than anything.
I just looked up our previous interactions and you stated you believed we would

* Keep Kane
* Sign Gift Orban in addition to Kane
* and sign a CB in addition to that as well

One thing believing we would keep Kane but actually believing the other 2 things would happen as well is a different type of delusion. You would have thought common sense would have eventually kicked in (Especially with Levys track record).

It either goes 2 ways now:

1) Kane rejects the move meaning that's it for transfers (MAYBE a bargain basement CB)
2) Kane goes and we bring in an attacking player (probably Brennan Johnson) and maybe a CB

That came out of the blue.

I had convinced myself in the last two weeks that he is more than likely going to stay. For a few reasons. One is I truly believe he regrets how Summer 2021 went with his behaviour to push the move to City. The love of the fans could have easily turned against him but it didn't. And what's more on that note after he missed the penalty at the World Cup which would have put a target on his back all over the country the Spurs fans rallied behind him more than before.

Second factor is I don't think Bayern Munich or frankly any overseas move would be his preferred choice now he is so close to Shearer's record. It'd require two seasons more to do it and all this time he has been eying it up. It's possible he could come back to England at 35/36 and make up for lost time but at that point no one knows what the toll of these years in between can have. He can play at 60% intensity and still bag 30+ Bundesliga goals a season but you're still going to pick up knocks and niggles along the way.

Thirdly I think he would want to have one last crack at silverware here.
Very possible my delusions have hit peak levels but I think this is a smart move by Levy, and this doesn't really change too much, as this is only saying to Kane the ball is in your court, if you want to go, here is your chance! Otherwise if you don't go to Bayern of all clubs, get that contract extension signed up and play ange ball!

As a Bayern fan, I'm in a state where I'm not sure if I should celebrate or feel sad about this. I'm sure that if Kane comes he's going to be massive, but that's a LOT of money for a 30yo with 11 months left on his contract. Purely from a financial point of view it does not feel right.

He's only just turned 30, isn't reliant on pace and is an intelligent player, indeed he's almost Germanic in that regard rather than a traditional English No. 9.

He'll score plenty of goals in Germany, a weaker league than the PL.

If you can't be happy signing Harry Kane, the. I'm not sure what would!

You'd be incredibly lucky to have him at your club.

Heartbroken, but glad we’ve got to watch such a special player. He’s shown his loyalty to us one more time that he’s going to go to Bayern, when most would run down the contract and sign for a premier league rival to keep the record. I honestly think he’ll be back one day to complete that mission, hopefully there’s some sort of clause in the contract. With us out of CL this year I hope he wins it, gets the monkey off his back and can eventually come back.

There’s still a 1% of me that is hopeful he’ll turn it down but surely not. If he does that, name the bloody stadium after him.

What Levy should have done was decide 3 or 4 weeks ago whether he was going to accept an offer or not. It shouldn't have been about waiting for the right amount to be offered, it was "am I going to sanction it at all, or not"

Once that was decided, he should have sat down with Kane and had one final attempt at a new contract.
Once that was clear - he should have just told Bayern what he wanted and said he'd stick to it. Either pay it or piss off.

But instead, he's wasted the WHOLE of pre-season. AGAIN
Blokes an absolute fucking mug.

I'm not denying his sporting value, but it's still a lot money to the point where there are no comparable transfers around. Maybe it's because we've been lucky with some deals in the past as well, such as getting Lewandowski on a free.
