I like him, think he could do well us. The rumour mill suggests we have firm interest but not expected to pay Palace the asking price which roughly translates to 'we are not in for him' and wasting everybody's time by being seen to be active in the pursuit of players without really having any real expectation of completing the purchase.

No it doesn't..... It needn't mean anything other than what it says...... i.e. interested so enquired, but not at that price.

His age makes the rumoured price tag seem extortionate, even the lower (circa £55m) looks too high. £30 -£40 is a much more reasonable value for an experienced PL of his ability and gives Palace a reasonable return for their original (£16m + £4m add ons) though I expect the 20% sell on clause is almost likely to prohibit any deal with us i.e. a bid of £55m means Palace would only net £45m with £11m going to QPR.
Generally agree,

But a bid of say £45m would mean £9m (20% sell on clause) going to QPR and they retain £36m which is more than double the £16m outlay on the player.

Sure its less than they hope but its not a bad deal for them, and affordable for us.

Incidentally I think both the £75m and £55m figures were invented and inflated as Spurs have £100m or so to spend from Kane - I don't think £50n+ is realistic for Eze

If we want rid of Tanguy I think we have to supplement 50% and forego a transfer fee. I feel like Ange was probably asked to see if he can salvage something there this season hence his early involvement in training sessions, noted his complete lack of application and told Danny "sorry mate, but this fat fuck is a lost cause."
Rather than releasing TD we'd be better off sticking him in a cell with Joe Lewis and throwing away the keys.

I think VERY selective on where he wants to go - which is fair enough as his cv is very good - but he has been declined by PSV and Real Madrid (publicly stated by clubs as an option before they appointed someone else) and is now talking to '2nd ranked' clubs such as Lazio.

He's taking his time but it would be madness for him not to get a club before end of window as number of clubs wanting him next summer will decline due to age and not playing for a year.
I always thought he’d go back to his boyhood club in France for some reason.

Have Palace just given up?
I'm sure when the so called big teams come knocking the likes of palace know they are fucked in time because all that happens is the player down tools regardless of his contract . So it's best to sell and start again for them.Players are out there in the lower leagues who will step up to it sooner or later it's just about the recruitment team and scouting teams.

Have Palace just given up?

Investors/owners want out so no funding to club

So players there are a sitting duck and even those on long contracts probably obtainable but on high bids and wages.

Hodgson in his 70's hired as club is not appealing to any younger competent manager. poor bloke, I think Palace start as one of half dozen favourites to be relegated after Zaha and Olise depart with no incomings and just £35m in bank so will be no incomings of consequence

Nor me but in the absence of rumour what else have we to go on. There is also the reported 'fairly achievable' £4m worth of add ons taking the figure to £20m. I agree your x2 profit is a reasonable expectation of return therefore £50m (pre Olise) might have clinched it if we'd been more proactive.

Can’t believe Regulardon is still at this club
James Van Der Beek Applause GIF

It's completely arbitrary.....

Should Brighton only have charged 8m for Caciedo? ........Should Southampton only have charge 20m for Lavia? etc.

Here yet another proof that potential doesn't always materialize itself in young talents. He was also a player who Spurs had been heavily lined with until Milan signed him. Of course, at 22 he's still fairly young but buying potential does not always work out....
