Plus we also have in excess of £400 million FFP leeway to play with....unheard of and unparalleled. And this is without the transfer fee received for our star player!!!

Which ever way you look at it, it's an absolute scandal. A scam.

Serious questions need to be asked about where the fucking money's going
For the millionth time, FFP leeway is NOT money in the bank to spend. A club could have a billion pounds of FFP leeway and still be bankrupt. Not saying that's us, of course it's not, but FFP does not equate to spare cash available to spend, so is only one factor to consider. Why do you continue to struggle so much with the concept of FFP?

Very sensible question. In the medium to long term, no. I don't have the stats easily available, but how many times have we finished above them in the last say 5 or 10 seasons? Yes they have won cups, but as per my last post, we've arguably been very unfortunate not to win a couple of cups in that period too.

They have winning the league as a realistic goal this season, though?

The amount they have spent, most people would agree they have failed if they aren't in the title race.

What is the reason that can't be Levy's Spurs?

Personally I don't think they have winning the league as a realistic goal this season, despite what they might think / hope - they just had a very good year last year, it can happen. City are odds-on with pretty much all bookies. Note that we nearly won it twice a few (6 or 7 maybe) years ago, and hence were probably amongst the favourites the following year - such are the ups and downs.

Yes we've been above them in the league for a few years until recently but now they're surging forward and outspending us. They're competing with Manchester City, we're competing with Brentford et al.

We bought Porro to suit Conte's WB system as if we didn't know Conte was going to leave either before or when his contract expired.

Am I alone in thinking Orban doesn't look like a missing piece of our puzzle? He's tiny and not blisteringly quick. He's only had one season and it usually takes that long for defenders to figure people out. I can't see why we would take a huge punt on this guy. I mean, I hope he's the second coming of Aguero and we get him for £5m, but neither is likely.

We have a bias as rivals. I'm not fucking crediting them as a title favourite but outside our bubble, the majority of people in world football see them as City's closest title rival.

What is stopping Levy from competing with them financially?

Last season was ONE season. We finished above them every year for six years. Of course we compete with them unless you think last season was more important than the six that came before. We’ve been competing for a decade and come ahead more times than not.

The balance of power has shifted which was prettt difficult to imagine 20 years ago.

Then why can't we compete with them financially?

They have blown Levy out the water over the last 5 years.

Aha, so in the medium to long term we've outperformed them, excellent! :)

Clearly they were well ahead of us last season - such are the ups and downs of football. After our best period this century, we made some mistakes - not strengthening in 2018 was a mistake, buying expensive flops like N'Dombele was a mistake, and recuiting two 'seriel winners' who turned out to be disasters was another mistake. What can i say, all management teams and scouts make mistakes, it's just regrettable that these 3 big ones all came so close together, understandably pissing off lots of fans. Thankfully more recently we seem to have been making more solid signings and have recruited a manager who seems more appropriate for the task. So let's not focus too much on the short-term, let's see where we are in a couple of years' time. That's my way of looking at it anyway - not saying it's the right way or the only way, but it is one valid way. :)

The clubs gone up in value £2bn the owner can realise some of that in many ways or use some of his own cash to invest if he wanted without bankrupting the club. People mentioning ffp leeway take that as a given

He's shiny and new and the papers say we want him though
