They have been continuously improving under the same manager for the past 3 seasons, and are continuing to back the manager in every transfer window. There’s literally nothing but blind optimism to suggest last season was just a blip. We were miles in front of them in our prime under Poch and in their final wenger year, that has clearly changed.
If we back our current manager the way they have backed arteta we can get to where they are now, but you’re not living in reality if you think last season was just a one off for them and they’re not gonna be near the top again this campaign.
It doesn't matter. We're not in Europe and have enough HG for this year. Technically we don't need any HG. It's just that we'll be limited to a 17 player squad, plus any U21s.
To be fair, I like Porro. It's to be seen whether he fits the new structure, but he's got talent (even if we overpaid for it)

With Orban, I expect it's a similar thought process - Levy is presumably debating over whether or not Orban is worth £30m, or whether that money would be better put to another transfer (in this window or a later one). (And he wouldn't be alone in that - the jury on here is very much out as to whether or not Orban is the answer, or is worth that fee). Well, I actually believe we finally have the 'right' manager and have been making some solid signings recently, so I expect in a few years time we will look back at last season and maybe this one as blips in a period where overall we finished above them far more often than not. But I guess only time will tell which of us is right.

See, I agree with you here and I'd have Ange over Arteta every day of the week. I'm a Spurs fan.
But the point stands about the mentality of their owners vs ours.

I'd put any money on it that we will. Not that we'll sign a top striker like Martinez or Vlahovic, but I think we'll certainly bring in another player or two.
No, if you look back, the origin of the conversation was before that, and was me and Zomb talking about value for money.
You came in halfway through and it moved on to talking about realistic objectives. But that minor error doesn't matter, both those topics have indeed been discussed at length.

We have been here before with Sanchez.
It's great to see him recover and play well. But if we get a decent wedge for him we take it.
He will still get deep into the season and randomly fall over during a match. He's a better fit for Amge than Dier but that isn't a reason to make him our 3rd choice CB.
