If, having just banked around £100m for our World class striker we're done strengthening our starting Xl then it's an absolute fucking disgrace. We'd basically be just waiting for the wheels to fall off the good start to the season we've had.

And you're OK with it!!

Jesus. .Our fans:ange-facepalm2:
I'm hoping they will buy.
I think the left footed centre back will be Hincapie or Lengelet
Not sure about who the midfielder will be.
The attacker will be Orban, David or Johnson.
If they get no one... You're right... It would be criminal not to build on the start we've had.

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are joining the race to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko ahead of the transfer deadline.

PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko continues to attract major interest with Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur now keen.

Johan Bakayoko is the most football manager regen name ever.

Bet he has 15 on determination, Dribbling, Finishing, Pace and 5or6 on everything else.

Porro as FB moving into midfield is part of Angeball - Udogie dos the same thing from LB - so that's nothing to do with Kulusevski.

I certainly understand the argument that a RW with more speed would be good - but atm Kulusevski has great technique to finish and does get into good positions to do so as he showed v Bournemouth.

I think all the forwards atm are struggling to jettison Conte's instructions to pass backwards/sideways and minimise the risk of losing the ball by not attacking - complete contrast to Angeball where a core requirement is attacking with individual players given a lot more decision making ability within Angeball rather than Conte where players were having to only make moves to follow a very tightly laid down Conte system. So up to Ange to assess whether Kulusevski will change to fit his system better or not - and that might mean giving Kulusevski months to see if he adapts..

I suspect Ange is looking at the situation, and in the short term the alternatives are either playing Solomon (or 2nd choice Porro) so a new RW is possible, but its one of several positions 'might' strengthen and his final choice might be either a centre forward or right winger with the choice being made on the basis of how well the available players fit Ange's system.
I see what you mean, but Udogie did more overlaps than Porro. Also, Udogie stayed more on his side while Porro several times were in the middle or even on the left side of the pitch to support the midfield, meaning no overlap for Deki. Udogie didn't do that to the same degree.

Often, when the ball was shifted from left to right, the ball went through Madders, Bissouma or Porro in midfield to Sarr who had pushed up on the mid-right, who then passed the ball to Deki who couldn't really beat his man 1-on-1 because of his lack of acceleration.

Football is a results business for the first teams. So the further up the pyramid, and particularly the further up the league that you are the bigger the expectation is on those results. And 99% of managers aren't going to lean on youth players to achieve that. Same for those teams fighting off relegation. The only clubs that can comfortable sneak youth players in every year are the ones that are content sitting around 10th and know that they can achieve that every year.

Poch stopped leaning on the academy core that he inherited the more success he had with Spurs.

There are obviously teams that are complete outliers from this principle, like Athletic Bilbao. But that is because they refuse to sign a player that lacks a connection to the Basque region. Which limits their recruitment pool.

The hole in the arguments about 'not bringing youth through' is that PL clubs need to have 4 Club trained players (players who have spent 3 years at the club before aged 21) under UEFA rules in order to have a complete 25 man squad - without those 4 club trained players the maximum squad size is 21.

You are totally correct that Poch did not give much if any time to academy products - he sold all he inherited, maybe 6 or 8 (Townsend, Carroll, Veljkovic- who faced Kane last week as Werder Bremen's CB - e al) for a combined £100m+ to invest in experienced players such as Sissoko, with only Winks coming through in 6 years under Poch.. Mourhino, to his credit, tried to bring through Tanganga and sent Skipp on loan : Conte completely abused the youngsters.

So right now Spurs have as 'Club Trained players' Skipp and Austin (3rd GK) ....... as Tanganga and White likely to be sold.

And in the other category of HG 'Other Association trained' we have Maddison, Davies (contract expires 2025 and he's already 30, so will likely not be at Spurs in 2024/25), Forster (already likely to retire at end of this season) ....... with Spence and Sessegnon unlikely to be retained. So next season we might have just 1 out of the 4 players required - unless we buy others (expensive) or have an excess of club trained players - so we might buy one or two (links with Tosin and Johnson).

However as of today we face having a maximum of 20 in our playing squad (17 overseas, 2 Club trained and 1 'other association' trained) next season 2024/25.

So with the total disregard of squad planning in respect of HG players since 2020, IMO the club has no choice other than to ask the coach to try to bring through a few Academy Players to fill existing gaps in 'Club Trained' quota and 'Other Association' trained

The first chance for Ange to do this is with Dane Scarlett and Alfie Devine, both of whom I think will have prominent parts next pre-season to see if they can be part of Spurs squad in 2024/25. The current u21's have adopted Angeball this season and changed from last season where they finished 2nd from bottom to being top of the league after 3 wins (v ManCity, Newcastle and Derby, aggregate score 11-1) with 4 forwards (Donley, Soonsup-Bell, Santiago, Lankshear) who look better than pretty much any forward we have had since Kane came through a decade ago, Dorrington an outstanding CB (plus Phillips bought this window) and Keeley (GK) .... with the outstanding 16 year old Mikey Moore also likely to catch Ange eye. So I'm expecting to see several of these feature next pre-season with the possibility that one or two might even make the bench before that.

So in short, by a happy coincidence (or better recruitment) there are a bunch of very good youngsters at the same time that the club needs more youngsters coming through, and Ange is probably the manager most likely to try to bring through a few since Poch started at Spurs.

Bakayoko would make a lot of sense. Together with Doku and Duranville part of an amazing group of Belgian wingers.

He has a lot of potential and still can make some bad choices but his potential is sky high!

Also a totally different type than Kulu which is nice.

Things going too well for you to take a dig at the club, so resorting to personal attacks, I see. Not that I expected different from the slimiest poster on TFC.

Imagine what kind of individual Honest John Honest John must be if she's happy to couple up with a massive fraud-cunt like her other half..........

I suspect the answer is Udogie was either playing a system close to Angeball in Italy last season and/or has adapted more quickly to Angeball than Porro who is still trying to forget Conteball requirements of a wingback which had no requirement for the RWB to move into midfield.

So I guess Porro will get better at Angeball the more he plays - although atm, I think Udogie is just the far superior player who at aged 20 looks a potential superstar, and that might be a factor that differentiates Porro and Udogie, but after 3 games its too soon to make that call.

Ha ha :harrylol:

Talk about slime...... Are you now going to call him out for all of the personal insults he throws at me and numerous other posters on an almost daily basis?

Or are you gonna cement your position as the forum hypocrite :sonhmm:

We sold our best player for 100M and we won’t buy anyone you are good with that? Lol

We need centre-back, a striker and midfielder.

Lads! This is always going to be a transition year. We’re not going to solve the problem in one window.

Won’t buy anyone? Didn’t realize we haven’t purchased a single player. We’ve spent nearly €200M (194M) this window which is the most this club has ever spent in a single window and we’re third in the spend category for all EPL clubs this summer. Also, we didn’t get £100M for Kane, we got €100M which is closer to £85M. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of money but West Ham and Brighton got bigger transfer for some of their players. The Kane money essentially paid for Maddison and Van De Ven.

I think at this point, we’d be looking at a back up midfielder and centre back because our starting midfield and CB pairing looks to be set plus, we can’t seem to offload our existing CBs. Midfield is debatable as I think we’re looking relatively healthy there. As for striker, I completely agree but who is available right now? Orban seems to be the only striker we’ve been consistently been linked with all summer. Why is no one else in for him, will he be a good fit for the EPL? That’s a risky buy IMO but I don’t disagree we need a striker
