Australia is a pretty xenophobic country and the Australian football media drove him out of the national side and shortly after he left the country for Japan. He obviously loves his cricket and would support the Australian team but he takes his holidays in Greece not Melbourne, if that’s an indication of where his heart lies.

As an Aussie of Greek descent, 2 years apart from Ange's age, I can refute this.

Yes, the 60's and 70' were tough here for those with surnames longer that Smith, but Australia nowadays is a great melting pot. I can vouch for that.

I have followed his career closely, from his time here to Japan where I had a business for years. My wife is Japanese and i embraced the J League.

He's an Aussie... proud of his Greek heritage. No more, no less.

Bottom line, he's a decent man who has taken the opportunities , worked hard and is now our Manager. We should all just support him.

Well I’m an immigrant to Australia too. There are pockets where everyone gets along but most of the (white) country is intolerant of Aboriginals and people from non English speaking backgrounds. Just my opinion.

The thing is, cult or no cult the manager is a genius. To take us from the turgid, negative football we have played for 3 years to the side we are now in the space of 6 weeks whilst losing arguably our greatest ever player is just crazy. You'd have to be an exceptional manager to achieve such gains in this sort of timeframe.

To just say that Ange like attacking football is to simplify what has already been achieved. I don't think many people understand the complexity of the job that Ange is doing given his starting position when he took the job.

Why not just enjoy the ride?

Can’t do that mate. Don’t you know, people aren’t allowed to be happy nowadays and if they are they are put down about it.

I think most people are realistic about things but after going to the stadium pissed off at having to watch us, now we are looking forward to it and it’s been done in such a short amount of time.

That's a heap of made up bollocks that I won't let stand, started lurking here when Ange signed on and have been following him since he was at South Melbourne, he was not driven out of anywhere he doesn't get driven he drives and people love the ride, Melbourne has the largest greek population of any city outside of Athens, it is a multicultural melting pot and the football scene there is long and storied and he is a part of it, don't dismiss his achievements in Oz they were legendary, his coaching at South Melbourne with Paul Trimboli up front were gold! The old NSL rocked heaps harder than the A league has ever!

To Shake it off

Spurs are gonna play, play play, play, play
And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate
Big Ange is on the way, way, way, way, way
Shake it off, shake it off

We sing the original at my choir. Done well, with some tasteful 4 part harmonies, it will sound completely brilliant.

50,000 drunk fans in the stadium? Absolute car crash.

I just wouldn't put them up.

Took me much longer than 1 good season to fall in love with Poch, let alone a few promising games to start off a season.

BTW my own optimism/pessimism/whatever doesn't have a single bit of impact on yours. I think some of you lot sound more than a bit culty, you lot think I'm a negative nelly. It's fine. I won't tear down your posters but nor will I put up any of my own.

Only people who feel the need to exude 'toxic' positivity will feel otherwise.
I bet you’re fun at parties!

Probably the first guest on the list! 😋

I did say last week that he essentially plays 'Total Football' and is inspired by Cruyff which is nothing new obviously.
He's just bringing Total football back full circle.

Do you know who discovered Cruyff and gave him his Ajax debut?

A guy call Vic Buckingham, given credit by Cruyff as putting Ajax on the path that gave them so much success.

Vic was also responsible for reviving Barcelona in the early seventies, but that's a whole other story...

Vic of course spent his entire playing career at the mighty Spurs...

I think we've impressed for exactly three halves of football in 3 games. Early shoots of being entertaining but ultimately probably very beatable for good teams.

But yes, some of you are acting like a cult. You have for a while with your nonsense twitter hipster posting acting like the manager is some genius with some unforeseen tactics instead of a positive bloke who wants to play on the front-foot.

If we finish higher than 6th feel free to stick up your Ange posters.

I think cult is a little harsh. So much more refreshing to see than the last 10 months of bickering, moaning and complaining, unless that is something you prefer to revel in I guess.

Yes, at the time. If we didn't get our next managerial appointment right it was eminently possible. The early signs are we have (far from definitive and the quality of the performances has been overstated) so top 8 seems doable.
How exactly has the quality of the performances been overstated? Especially in the context of a brand new way of playing that the players are still getting used to?

It is literally the return of the Tottenham way
