because he adds value even when he isnt producing much with the ball at his feet. only idiots that have never played before dont understand how important that is.
I'm inclined to agree...

Instead of relying on just ONE player scoring 30 goals, I can easily see a scenario where at least 3, 4 or 5 players can score 10 each, we've already had 5 different goalscorers so far this season... (6 if you include Ben Davies!!)

...except Richie of course... He'll get a few I'm sure, but I reckon Vicario might even beat him for goals this season... He seems the type of lad who will come up for a late late corner if we're trailing!!
3,4 or 5 players scoring 10 each better than 1 scoring 30. Let’s put the 1 scoring 30 back in the team . That could mean 1 scoring 30 with 2,3 or 4 scoring 10 goals each. Wouldn’t that be much better. .
Last season watchingnSpurs I’d scream to get more players in the box which wasn’t happening, even Kane outside. Against Bournemouth there were times when we had 5 in the box, promising. We still need that pen early box striker however. Not to get one would be ridiculous.

Agree, think folks would be wise to factor in 2 things:

1. How much better will he look with 10 better players surrounding him, to open up more space for him.

2. How much will he improve, as we have seen with 7-8 players almost instantly in Anges system.

Always thought he had some quality, but haven’t watched closely to know, just hope he’s Anges No.1 target, given he’s lost Kane he must be given half for a player he believes will have high impact.
I hope Vicario is not surrounding him.

On the Sessegnon to Bale scale of young, fast homegrown wide players who broke out in the Championship, unfortunately Johnson is much closer to Sessegnon. Bale always had that wand of a left foot. Johnson has pace, is aggressive in 1v1s, has decent ballstriking but I can't see how he gets to elite levels.

I think he'll mostly be backup to Kulu, and be a useful sub when we need to change things.

A lot of money for a squad player, but apparently we need HG, and wages won't be massive.
Apparently his delivery is quite good. So pace and delivery. Sounds like a poor man's Bale.

And you're right, wages will be very normal (£50ish/wk would be my guess as he's currently on £10/wk), which is something that has to be factored into the overall transfer spend. Will make him also easier to shift, if he doesn't hit the levels expected.

But that entirely depends if on if you have a project manager or a win now manager, Ange is definitely a project manager and he will be here for the foreseeable, if he leaves then you get a manager who is similar to hm, that's how it's meant to work anyway.
I get what you are saying but don’t fully agree.

It depends on if you have an overarching football philosophy and recruit managers to fit that.

Our biggest issue was bringing Jose, Nuno, and Conte after Poch because we thought they were winners and completely failed to understand what kind of players they needed and what kind of football we wanted to play with the way the squad was already built.

I hope Chelsea take as long as we did to figure that out as well.
I don't think the manager(s) have been involved whatsoever in the Chavs transfers, they have a clear MO of buying under 23's with a high ceiling and have an absolutely humongous squad, Poch was most likely told he will have to work with the players that the club hierarchy identifies and brings in. How the hell he is going to manage having so many players is anyone's guess, I mean Potter really suffered with all the stories coming out about the changing room being too small to accommodate all their players, Poch has already been ambushed in interviews about players he isn't even aware play for his team.

There was a story on Insta where a journo asked Poch about a player they had who was on 100k a week and had only played 8 times. Poch had no idea who the player was and had to look him up….

Depends on what other options there are, but I'd be happy with Hojbjerg as a rotation player.
What if Bentancur was fit right now? You wouldn't pick him for the first team over any of Bissouma, Bentancur or Sarr surely, he has a shout of being slightly better than Skipp right now, but Skipp hasn't peaked yet so theoretically has a higher ceiling, and is also club trained. We simply don't need him, and if we were looking at him for the kind of money we want to receive for him (£30m+) I'd be mind-boggled as to why the club thought we needed him...
