Dippy bastards like me are the problem?? I didn't realize we wielded that much power, that we can actually affect how the team plays, who we buy, and how the team is managed.

See, what we want is for the team to perform in every game the way they did yesterday, regardless of who is running the club. The only thing you care about is who is running the club. Suit yourself, but in the end, you'll be the one that's constantly miserable, because the club ownership ain't changing anytime soon.

And do tone it down with the name calling. It just makes you sound desperate.
You dopey mthrfkr.

Hence why I said just get Tosin and Orban £50M for the pair. Would have added good depth. I’d sell rich to Saudis he can join Neymar as that is the only place where we could get decent money. Keep that money then Jan go get a CF. We have son and Johnson who could play ther plus Gil to come back to provide wide cover.
No reason on earth not to just buy Tapsoba, along with VDV, and get the damn thing sorted and give your manager a proper chance.

Thoughts on yesterdays game….

  1. Thought we got off to a pretty slow start, not just because we went behind. In the first 20 mins our passing was sloppy and we didn’t press as a team very well. Credit to Burnley, they were well up for it, but it wasn’t our best start.
  2. Having said that, there’s a definite theme from all 4 league games where teams press aggressively in the first half, but look broken down and incapable of doing the same in the 2nd half.
  3. From 25 mins on we were in complete control and really dominant. That was evidenced by Burnley making a half time formation change. They knew they were in trouble.
  4. Romero has been the best CB in the league so far from what I’ve seen. He’s been unreal.
  5. To echo the comments of others, Sarr and Biss in particular were well below the levels shown so far this season. I think it’s actually very encouraging that we can play so well bearing that in mind.
  6. Maddison is so good. So good.
  7. I thought Manor was lively. Nice couple of assists and I actually thought he pressed really well too. He’ll be an asset this season.
  8. Porro wasn’t great for the first goal, but was excellent after that. Everyone talking about the ball for Son’s hat trick goal but I wanted to reflect on the first goal too. Porro played a lovely clipped pass over the Burnley defence after Son had spun his man. Now substitute Porro and Son for Emerson and Richy. 1) Emerson cannot make that pass. He doesn’t have it in his locker. 2) Richy doesn’t make that spin and run. He tries to take the ball feet (and on recent evidence loses it). Porro is imperfect defensively (albeit I don’t think Royal is great there either), but he has so many top class attacking attributes, I’m really glad Ange has been brave enough to play him and Udogie in the same side.
  9. Is Sonny back? Son has 2 elite qualities; his off ball running and his finishing with either foot. He can’t really beat the full back anymore which restricts his effectiveness in wide areas as we’ve seen for over a year now. I think it’s fair to say he’s going to fit this team better as a CF than wide forward. I still have some reservations about his hold up play in games where we’re playing top top sides, but no defence wants a player that quick and clinical making runs in behind.
  10. Ange really has implemented his tactics and system quickly. I look at Utd, who are yet to see the “ETH vision” nearly 15 months after he was appointed, it’s actually incredible how quickly the players have adapted to the new style of play.
  11. Last thing - I think everyone is getting understandably excited right now but I think it’s important we just focus on each game until the new year. No talk of top 4 / 5 or even more until we have a better feel for how this season pans out.

Good summing up.

Some fans think we are flattering to deceive against mediocre teams (which i partly agree with) but the sides we have played so far (aside from United) we should be beating if we intend to get into Europe next season?

On either flank i haven't seen a side so far in the PL who have anything near as good, with Porro and Udogie outstanding so far.

With Johnson still to come in we will have more pace going forward from midfield and the forward line that will keep any other sides defence on their heels for most of any game when they play us.

My only fear is that we do look vulnerable with our high line, but I am sure that is why Ange was looking another CB.

Only sixteen games until the next TW so we will see.

We appear to be showing a different mentality that can only improve performance and results, which is something that we didn't see under Commandant Jose or Conte.

Early days, some hard knocks and inefficient performances ahead, but as a fanbase we have to stand firm.

Through adversity will come success, we just need to be patient and see the bigger picture.

I think Tottenham fans have, been more than patient over the years, probably far too much shown at times.
But yes, so far, many of the players have bought into the program so far, and it's good to see with four games played.
It is of course early days, and it will be interesting to see, what happens when teams do sit deep and break( similar to what West ham done in the pre season friendlies)
I expect that Ange, will be more than aware of that, as teams in Scotland must have done the same thing last year.
We could be a surprise package for top four, but I think that might escalate us this year.
Maybe the Johnson signing, might help break the lines when teams sit deep.
I just hope, the team can remain free of bad injuries, especially at CB, as the depth there isn't great.

So I wasn't able to watch any of the match yesterday - going from the lineup (i.e. Solomon's inclusion) and positioning of Son for his three goals, am I correct in thinking Ange moved Sonny into the central striker position?

I don't dislike Richarlison but this may be the way forward if so, especially with Brennan Johnson's signing.

Watched the full match now. Obviously very happy with the result and great to see Son do so well centrally. Looking forward to what Johnson can bring to the team, hopefully playing as first choice on the right.

Fair play to Burnley, they were still going for it at 3-1 and 5-1 down. Thought we were unlucky for their second goal that it somehow went under VDV’s leg even though he got there in time.

I thought it had young offender vibes… boy band member attending his first day at court.

Yes, Sonny played central.

I truly think that Kulu will be an onlooker once Johnson gets his wheels oiled by Ange.
Even if he is, we now have 6 quality forward players for 4 spots, who are both interchangeable and fluid...

Son, Kulu, Richie, Solomon, Johnson and Maddison ...
That's some choice!

Even if Richie and Solomon end up as back up to the other four, that's none too shabby!

...and that's not even counting Veliz when he's ready and up to speed!

Tottenham fans patient?? Go and read the match thread before we equalised yesterday!! It’s embarrassing🤣
Teams will get wise to how we play but Ange is constant in how he has his teams playing. In Scotland only Rangers never put everyone behind the ball and t because they continually pounded the opposition into making mistakes they’d win most games. It will be similar in the premier league and that’s why his team is now full of quick sharp good passers of the ball in tight areas that can deal with teams sitting in. Madders and Biss are key to that. If anything happens to those and Skipp and Hojbjerg start then results would change. It’s having the right personnel to playing against that type of team that sits in against us. I think the club let Ange down in the transfer window because we still needed another midfielder who has the guile and ability to play in those conditions

Good result, shame we conceded the late goal, against better opposition that could have been costly.
May be I guess that is for another day. Great thing is we are not dropping points to ‘lesser’ teams like we have in the past. These points will hopefully push to top 5 come end of season. Also momentum builds up. Imagine if we hard a few harder fixtures and results didn’t go our way? Pressure would build but let’s keep this going for next game then go into NLD in good shape. We cannot ask for more than that tbh.

Our starting XI for our last PL loss (1-3 vs Brentford)

Lloris
Emerson - Sanchez - Lenglet - Davies
Danjuma -- Biss -- Skipp -- Son
Kulu -- Kane
Really underlines the work that's been done in defence and midfield.

Biss and Sarr were already here but needed to be unleashed and Madders has been a revelation.
Under non stick mason. I wonder what he adds and if Ange will have a ‘restructure’ of back room team?
