I'm so bored.

So, do you think we'll ever be the club that pays the £100m for Rice, or Grealish? Or will we always spend less than the other big 6 clubs in terms of single player fees?

Hitchen and Poch

Poch refused to accept a DoF, hence Hitchen as Chief Scout.

Poch was very proudly telling everyone he wanted |Sanchez after watching him in an Ajax v ManU EL final, so Poch certainly had his fingers involved, and likewise Ndombele/Lo Celso signings
I would agree i think Poch was poor at spotting players but this carried on after he left with Reguilon, Rodon, Bergwijn, Doherty, even Hojbjerg to a degree under Hitchen.

No he's not. Certainly not in the style of football we're trying to play - in fact, Sanchez was far better suited to that (as demonstrated by his substitution on for Romero against Brentford).

'A few obsessives' is massively underplaying the mood for Dier to have been sold this summer. I'm not equating that to whether or not fans actually abuse him at games.
Ange does not agree with you. Demonstrated by the fact he sold him.

I'm not against a £100m signing, but the most important thing for me is that we've sorted out our scouting/player recruitment. Whether that's by using a more stats-driven approach, I don't mind, so long as we don't waste money on the big signings.

Look at this evening alone: on paper, Sanchez and Ndombele were a collective £100m or so, right? The amount they've devalued is horrendous.

A £100m sure thing is definitely better than two £50m duds.

Interesting mixture of players.

Some "has beens" "never was" and "never heard ofs".

60m for a MF in 2019 is like paying 100m in 2023.
40m for a CB in 2017 is like paying 70/80 for a CB in 2023.

Point being we could spend 100m on a 'sure thing' and still be left disappointed (even if they are EPL-proven).....

You don't think we'd have sold Dier if he was willing to leave?

We just managed to eek out a bit of residual value for Davinson, that's all. Both would have been gone if it was up to Ange.

Or is Dier not even making the subsitutes bench in any of our matches a ringing endorsement?

Oh, and in case you think he's injured, he's not - in fact he can be seen training 12 days ago here:

Don't disagree but a couple of comments :

Bergwijn was fine when first arrived (scored first game I think) but almost immediately was converted to a 'defensive winger' or RWB and after that obviously not played to his strengths (attacking scoring). Never recovered from that - fault on Mourhino not player

Hojbjerg - Cost circa £15m plus KWP. I think we git a fair value player who played in every game first 3 seasons - usually as our best CM. Only when we recruited Bentancur did we see how much better a CM we needed. But to be fair, Hojbjerg looks better for Denmark (more attacking) played a bit further forward.

But generally our recruitment has got far better under Paratici - maybe one player who hasn't quite worked out from 7 bought in each season (eg Gollini, Gil) which I suspect is better than most clubs

If Ange wanted Dav he would not have sold him.
IMO Dier will feature for Spurs this season.
If he doesn't that will be Ange's decision.
The overwhelming majority of Spurs fans don't feel hatred towards Eric Dier.
He has featured in many great games for Spurs and has been a great servant.

I'll finish by saying this: I am not saying Spurs fans hate Dier if they think he should be moved on.

We'll see with regards to how Dier is used, if at all. Considering Ashley Phillips was on the bench against Burnley (and has more pace) I would still wager he's taken priority over Dier in the pecking order.
