Finishing could've been better, but he's understandably rusty, other than that he looks good.
This was an epic game to introduce him. Being 5-0 meant his Ego will have to accept he has to show above Lankshear at least, to be sniffing a subs place.Veliz last played for Rosario in Argentinian league in June, before playing for Argentinian u20's in the same tournament (although they didn't meet) as Devine and Scarlett for England in the early summer.
Seems to have arrived at Spurs with a minor knock and not as fit as our lads have been after a pre-season, but has had about a week of training and maybe understandably not match fit.
Aged 20, against Colchester, he looked more powerfully built than the younger lads (a year means a lot at this age in terms of physical development) and good at holding ball up, but his shooting was woeful.
He came off the bench with u21's 5-0 up thanks to :
- Soonsup-Bell playing RW who is a few months younger than Veliz who scored 2 goals
- Lankshear playing the centre forward role, who was subbed for Veliz, almost 18 months younger than Veliz but already almost as powerfully bult, who scored one goal
- Donley playing a Maddison like creative role now rather than the striker role he played a year or so ago, and again almost 18 months younger than Veliz who scored 2 goals on the night.
- Alonso playing LW, a few months younger than Veliz, didn't score but like the others put in a lot of work and made chances for others.
so Veliz's got lots of competition who are currently some way ahead of him in terms of match fitness and confident in goal scoring.
I'd guess the plan is to get Veliz, Sooonsup-Bell and maybe Santiago and Donley out on loan in January to get more experience than u21 league can give. Hopefully there are enough minutes in u21's to share out without inhibiting any of the players development as all are doing well atm - as 23 goals in 6 matches indicates.
Interesting thoughts.Would like Donley to get a subs spot.
Simon Davies taking props right now. Loans need setting up forJanuary no doubt, maybe Veliz will need one by then.

It's great to be playing here, already love the fans, except that
Goal thief MatipPretty sure he would have scored if Matip didn't score the OG.
In a way, he actually did. His sub did at least
You're right. Worthy of a replay!!!!
