Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't want to hear any excuses from other managers saying they need time and money to get their ideas across to their players, what we have seen with Ange is that he needs neither just to get his team playing. He's put a lot of managers to shame including our previous ones in the way he's got his team playing after a short amount of time. That's what's so impressive - it's as if Kane never existed and he's given the players an air of responsibility and it shows - he's a top manager.

It just makes me wonder how many other ones there are fairly similar to him scattered across the globe ,who dont get a chance at the very top because their faces dont fit or they dont play the game/climb the ladder through the media, agents and knowing chairmen/chief execs etc. or played in a top division.

Probably loads mate.

To get to this level, you also need a good slice of luck. Many many worthy people won't ever get that chance.

Sad, but the reality.

The anti-Ange sentiment was far greater on the Celtic forums when he was first announced.

To be fair though, Ange's methods took longer to gel up there - he dropped quite a few points early. He's only dropped a handful at Spurs and yet to lose to it's easier to see his progress/process.

That was a great test yesterday. Woolwich will definitely be top three this season so to go there and come back twice was a massive effort. They suffered a fair bit from losing Rice but... that's football.

It's getting to the point where anything less than 4th for Spurs will look disappointing. Hard to see anyone else breaking into the City, Liverpool, Woolwich, Spurs group this year but there's a long way to go.

Buckle up.

But you werent in the same place as us. We were crying out for someone like him and had been for years. Having better players at his disposal should mean his ideas get across quicker too of course.

Sure I was sceptical off the bat but after watching the videos in the days after the links and listening to the Celtic fans it didnt take me long to come around.

Another celtic fan posted in the match thread to look out for hamstring injuries in the first months of playing under Ange which is an interesting tidbit. It is that kind of previous experience with him that is worth listening to.

That’s a big statement.

European football to contend with. A squad that falls apart towards the end of the season.
Played 4 home games and 2 away so far.
Currently 5th despite this extra help.

Definitely???

Wash your mouth out with soap and water and go and sit on the naughty step for 24 hours while watching that fruitloop Tai on AFTV and consider your words and actions.

Interesting he suited himself up today in a departure from his usual match attire. That was definitely a sign knowing him so far.
Pretty sure he is a Collingwood fan, he was looking magnificent in the black and white out there I must say, well played game with some sketchy moments outnumbered 3 to 1 by great play that picked them apart repeatedly. After game I was left thinking Spurs were stronger, physically, mentally and coulda, shoulda got a win there, pretty good spot to be in and when the subs get used to coming in and actually driving it home with more energy, the wins anywhere against anyone will start coming.

Edit; Ange supports CarltonFC not Collingwood, I was totally biased interpreting clothing choice for the game

I think Ange has helped to break down some of those barriers, especially in Scotland. Hibs in the SPL have just signed Nick Montgomery, who managed Central Coast Mariners to the A-league title last year with the smallest budget, and is a great admirer of Ange’s. Also played 349 games for Sheffield United. He’d be on my radar if I was working at the Blades. Hasn’t lost yet in his two games in charge.

Edit: also in Japan, where he’s blazed a trail for Aussie coaches. There will be more eyes on the Asian leagues for coaches I expect.

I just want to apologize to Ange for not having the courage to watch the game live yesterday. I suppose I'm just waiting for it to go tits up, as it usually does for us.
I still can't quite believe it that we have unearthed the perfect manager for us and he seems to genuinely want to be here.
Heaven knows, we've kissed enough frogs in the past, have we found our Prince Charming, at last?
I love how he's just brought everyone and everything together in such a short space of time. Considering what a mess we were, it's nothing short of miraculous.

Why would anyone want to be a Collingwood fan?

I'm sure there's some but Ange really does seem a uniquely special guy.

I don't mean about his tactics, I mean about his ability as a communicator and a leader.

I'm sure there's tons of tactical geniuses scattered across the globe, but you need to have that AND a world class ability to get people to believe in you and to be able to coach them enough to get them to execute your vision.

At least he's honest ... but it's not just him who's confused about the handball rule: even the refs are!

https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/news/romero-handball-Woolwich-man-utd-27783162

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou summed up the confusion at the current state of affairs, claiming that he has "no idea" what the actual rules are anymore. "Mate, I couldn't see but I've got no idea about the handball rule. I really don't," Postecoglou said.

"I saw the one yesterday at Wolves and it just seems if it hits your hand it's a penalty and then other times if it hits your hand, it isn't a penalty.

"I've got no idea. It is the one rule in the game I just don't understand. Unless we start developing armless defenders I don't know how you are supposed to block things and be in a natural position. It is what it is mate. You kind of hope these things even themselves out over the course of a year but I don't understand the handball rule. I have said that to referees in the past and I don't know how they see it to be honest.

"I think any clarity would be good because I have got no idea, mate. That is probably just me but I have no idea what the handball rule is because I've seen all sorts of handballs given and all sorts of handballs not given and they look identical to me. I don't know. I don't understand it."

Seriously Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman you are our Boudicca. No matter the level of ass kicking that awaits( I was at the Emirates for our previous Surrender)I console myself with the fact that the mad Malteser will lead us into battle no matter the odds! I do not want to hear you were cowering behind the sofa amid the detritus of a half dozen bottles of Proseco!!
