Ex-Spurs Player Giovani Lo Celso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I dunno- why not? He never was cut out for being a prem CM, and then basically became dispirited immediately after Poch was canned.

That's not at all true.....

He quickly became injured upon arrival and barely got a sniff before Poch left... It wasn't until Jose gave him a run that he put in the only decent bit of form he's ever showed here.... If it wasn't for that spell he wouldn't have even been made a permanent signing.

It's all been more than a bit wishy-washy and un-commited ever since.... Not unlike when Adebayor got a contract after a trial period.

Lots of injuries, shit tactics, bad coaches- having enjoyable and successful seasons elsewhere- not sure why it's hard to see how he just sort of devolved into this distant, aloof, physically fragile being.

Or perhaps that's just who he is.......? Weak, fair-weather (both figuratively and literally); can't even impose himself in the pre-lims of the ECL & EL against farmers...... The slightest knock means time off until it's time to play for Argentina.

No-one asked him to be a CM last night nor was he asked to against Fulham in the cup (he stood in for Maddison both times) but again he brought nothing to the table in either game.

Ahhh we are back to slagging off players who are clear not match fit and had 10 mins in a second half performance which really wasn't good at all. But we were cruising.

I will let Ange decide if he is good enough or not, seeing as most fans scream for loyalty then shit on a player as soon as they can.

In Ange I trust.

Meh.... I'm as patient with our players as you will find.

Just an empty shirt

If he was a meal he'd be this:

Yea he looked like he didn't give much of a shit. Barely interacted with Son who was trying to congratulate him on the team win after the game. What kind of aloof douchebag doesn't smile and shake hands with their captain when the team wins? GLC does.

If I were Ange I'd be really careful giving minutes to someone with his attitude. He was anonymous on the pitch. Really disappointing performance- we're lucky it didn't bite us in the ass.
He came on the 81st minute …. What did you expect ? The game was petering out . Was he any worse than
Skipp or Johnson ?

I think Ange used yesterday's game as the perfect opportunity to see what the likes of GLC, Richy and Skipp are made of...

The game wasn't the most taxing, but we still couldn't take liberties...

Richy starting, and coming off, said as much as GLC, Skipp, Johnson and Veliz starting on the bench, and coming on...

Ange is clearly prepared to give them an opportunity, but only in a situation (like last night) where we have a cushion of a few goals to protect, rather than having to chase a game a goal or two down...

I don't think he'd have brought on all 4 subs had we NEEDED a goal... as it was, he could afford the relative luxury of experimenting with the game (hopefully) already won... Coulda backfired, but didn't.

The only change that really came out of last night with any credit was PEH... did what was asked of him, to the best of his ability.

Jury's still out with Veliz & Johnson, purely due to lack of minutes... But unfortunately, Richie, Skipp & GLC did themselves no favours at all last night.
So it’s ok that Veliz and Johnson were anonymous but not for GLC in the 15 minutes he was on the pitch ?
I still think there is a player in there and I’m sure Ange will decide between now and January if he wants to keep him

Not what I said, besides, it wasn't exactly GLC's first and only 15minutes for us...

Don't get me wrong, I like him, and genuinely want him to be the real deal...

Whether he has what it takes to start regularly, I dunno, but like PEH, if he's happy to be a squad player and back up for Maddison, then great, but it takes a certain mindset to adapt, and embrace that role...

Some players have it, some don't... Depends on age sometimes, maybe GLC sees himself as a senior player being used in a sparing role that would suit younger players, which is where the likes of Veliz & Johnson DO have time on their side to make cameo appearances, anonymity notwithstanding, they still need to make an impact (which neither really did last night)
....but I'm sure Ange will make sure they're aware of their responsibility, and look for a reaction if he uses any of them on Friday...

sorry, long winded answer to a simple question!

no, I don't think Veliz or Johnson should be given a free pass if they don't play well, same as GLC, PEH or Richie shouldn't either...

I just thought that of all the players who came in last night, (either starting, or from the bench) PEH acquitted himself the best.

Richie was wasteful, but busy at least.... GLC, Johnson and Veliz didn't really make the most of the brief minutes they were given... Thass all!

Thank fuck someone else saw the same as me, was starting to think I was going mad reading the last page or so.

I'm not sure what people were expecting from such an outing? The most notable moments for me were a pass out of play towards Skipp, clearly people feel like that was GLC at fault as opposed to Skipp who just stood still on his heels as opposed to making any movement for the ball, and the phase of play where he picked up the ball in his own third, drove forward into space all the way up the pitch, and then held it too long for a through ball to Veliz, again, rather than look at the positive part of that move, the focus is on the poor final ball...

Between that he had a few touches in the middle where he generally recycled possession. Absolutely nothing wrong with the appearance for what it was, 6 out of 10 would be fair.

He needs meaningful time on the pitch to give him a fair shot at gaining the rhythm for things like final ball to click, and to integrate better into the movement of the team around him. If he's only ever coming on for a few minutes surrounded by the likes of Skipp, Royal and the youth team striker then I think it's a it harsh to blame the disjointedness on him.

Now, the question of whether he can remain fit enough to gain the manager's trust and find that rhythm is another one entirely. People seem to take it personally when he gets injured though, as if he's faking to stay fresh for Argentina, which also baffles me. He'd have to be some Messi level football genius to be able to skate by not playing at club level and yet still get called up by the World Champs in between.

This bloke will never be a EPL player I wish to god we had sold him to Villa enriched ourselves and weakened them. I watched off the ball alot when he came on and he lacks the movement and awareness let alone the technical abilities to adequately replace Maddison. Awful signing with a fan club reaching Soldado levels of self-delusion.

It’s one drawback of only playing league games at the moment. It becomes a self fulfilling situation where the fringe players don’t get to improve their fitness and touch except in training situations.

If I had to be picky it's one of the few things I'm disappointed with so far under Ange, the stories from Celtic were that he replaces his 8's like clockwork on 60ish minutes to keep up the intensity, and the focus would always be on attacking.

Now I'm not complaining about our attacking play by any means, but we've had PEH and Skipp brought on to see out a game on more than one occasion, and the fringe attacking players have been getting the dregs at the end of matches for minutes, not half an hour every week.

Like you say, it's one of the drawbacks of no midweek throwaway games to allow them to get into a rhythm and build some trust/form.

Thing is, if disaster strikes and Maddison were unavailable, we're left just hoping that someone can shift up a gear to take up the slack, if that's expected to be GLC even if we all accept he's a level below, then he's not currently ready to go, he'd need a couple of games to get into it fully.
