When City and the Chavs don't get any meaningful punishment, this tweet goes back to being irrelevant and only ever becomes relevant again when or if FFP ever grows any teeth for the big guns.

I don't hate Levy as an owner and he's achieved fantastic infrastructure improvements for the club. It would be a fantastic success story if he could convert that into trophies. It would be a success story for football the premier league if a British owned club could operate sustainably and win in the Prem. Not that they see it that way.

But for now this is a sport that is about winning and at the top end and he hasn't achieved that.

Just A league cup in 22 years? Very poor return. They just don’t do success & trophies. It isn’t enic or levy at all. Probably the Last thing you associate with them. Not winning trophies has become what we are know for under them. Our all time top goalscorer had to leave because of this & them.

It's something that they talk about but only if it fits within the model they follow.

Can't hate it but at the same time it's getting boring and predictable the patterns that this club follows.

Yeah it’s felt stale & like they have reached their ceiling. No disgrace in that. But they aren’t owners who will win you things & take you to that next level. They haven’t got it in them. Feels like they should have sold up & let someone else have a crack at it a few years ago.
We can keep acting shocked & surprised every season when we don’t win anything as per usual. But it all feels very fake & silly now! Pretending we are going win the title then settling for much less.

Yeah we go through the same cycle. Get top 4 & threaten. Don’t seize the momentum to go to the next level & instead go backwards. Transition & then get top 4 & threaten. Don’t seize the moment ……..

It's really not difficult to understand is it, the club won't end up like Everton, but equally, they won't end up being like city, a winning machine.
The club is in middle ground territory, difficult for Ange to achieve much more than top four at best.
I think ENIC are ok with that, it does increase the revenue stream which is good for them.
To be honest, top four for me is fine, don't expect much more than that, unless we get lucky at some point.
 
There are 90+ teams in the top 4 leagues and many more clubs just below where fans go to watch. Why do they go? The very vast majority will never win the Pl and many will never get there. They will never win the FA Cup or League cup and playing in Europe is just a dream.
Well for all these teams the fans go for a variety of reasons, to watch entertaining football, the hope of getting to a higher league or maybe winning the EFL trophy. I would expect the fans satisfaction would be higher for winning the League 2 trophy rather than ending up in the lower reaches of the PL. Many might be happy after winning a match rather than fighting relegation and regularly losing. Of course many will just go out of habit or to meet mates.
The number of teams that can win the PL is small and only 6 teams have won it since 2000. Leicester was an anomaly and MC have won it 5 out of the last 6 seasons. Unless something major changes like MC owners selling up or the PL actually deduct points and stop them buying players then I find it hard to see anything changing.
Only 8 teams have won the F A cup since 2000. 10 teams including us have won the League cup since 2000.
Having being brought up on Spurs winning cups I agree with those who say 1 league cup win in that period is not good enough. The problem is we do not prioritise the 2 domestic cups but prefer to chase the money and European qualification as winning the PL is a pipedream. Yes Levy is a big reason of our failure to win cups but also successive Managers, players and fans.
We need to decide if money is more important than the slightly better chance of winning a cup. I hoped with no Europe and Ange having a different attitude that maybe this would be the season. That hope was quickly extinguished with our dismal LC defeat to Fulham. I find it difficult to see any different outcome in the F A Cup if Ange as seems likely plays the back up players.
Would any new owner have different priorities?? I have my doubts although they may spend more but the gap between us and MC is enormous and unless they come in and tell the Manager to prioritise the Cups then I see little changing.

We know that but the question is why, there is a wider context which needs to be discussed which is clubs cheating to gain significant advantages at the expense of clubs like ours.

The Premier League sets the environment. Clubs are all trying to win within the framework of that environment.

If they allow City and the Chavs to cheat then they allow it and that's how you win in the Premier League.

So I take it you'd be happy to cheat to win as well then? I suppose you think that Levy's done an acceptable job and rate him as a good owner had he'd just openly bent the rules which allowed us to win?

Money is more important to the club than cups, but probably the other PL chairman would probably feel the same.
Going to football, is both a social and entertainment thing for most, I go to support the team and hopefully get entertained.
I don't go with the expectation that, this club can be PL or CL champions, that is restricted to the money clubs an elite group.

Let me reframe my question for you

So if the PL do punish them for breaking the rules and then decide to hand Spurs trophies they missed out on as a result of those clubs being stripped, does he become an acceptable chairman in your eyes?
