Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Yes. Every striker we have is simply not good enough.
Out of what we have, I'd play Ade up front. He did OK when he came on yesterday. At least he created space, moved about and had a go. Much more effective than Soldado.

But he's not the answer because he'll only do that in a handful of games, then go missing for the rest of the season. Just like Defoe.

If AVB wants to persist with his way of playing, then why didnt he buy a forward suited to it? Big mistake.

So 59 league goals at Valencia from 2010-2013, including 18 league goals from 2010-2011 (25 in all competitions), 18 league goals (27 in all competitions) from 2011-12, 24 league goals from 2012-13 (30 in all competitions) including a Spain call up at the Confederations Cup.

And yet by your reckoning it's not our fault, it's his, he's simply not good enough.

Not the way we're set up, no!

He's the wrong sort of player for the way we are 'trying' to play.

Stats are easy to throw about. Just look at this seasons current ones. They are all I care about right now, i couldnt give a shit about what he's done before.

Do you think he will come good then?

As we know the Premier League can make or break even the best strikers. I am a fan of Soldado (having signed him on my Spurs Fifa career for the previous 3 years :D) but something isn't working for him. I don't think he is getting the service required, and nor do I think we are playing to his strengths BUT I do think there is something to be said for the fact that in Europa he looks infinitely more dangerous than in the league, where he is given far more time and space (and probably respect) by defenders.

Also, Townsend seems to cross the ball in EL games. Something he seems incapable of in the league.

Not good enough or maybe he's not able to adjust his game to suit our style of play/the premier league.

We knew exactly the sort of player he was when we brought him, which is why I am baffled that we just havent offered anything like the service he needs.

He was always a player that never made something out of nothing, but would finish just about anything if you put him in in the right places.

We have barely tried so far, makes no sense to me

The lack of service has clearly affected his confidence. I watched Monday night football to see a bit of analysis on the City game (without being pissed out of my nut), and they did a bit on his off the ball movement, there was none. He clearly believes the ball isn't coming his way so doesn't bother with the runs anymore, which means the ball DEFINITELY doesn't come his way, bit of a vicious circle. Im still confident he will turn it round and nick 20 goals this season, i know a man that cost so much will be judged straight away, but a little more patience should be shown, and a little more ball needs to come his way
